Sensational day at Walpole.

lots of great crew, fantastic location and a great bbq presentation after.

Inaugural Walpole speed event. Excellent conditions, nice weather. Started breifly on  RX1 8.1 & Kinetic, wind kicked in so changed to 6.1 on S-Type 93 and Choco 30. Took a bit of time to tune to the conditions.

A really enjoyable days sailing. Smile

Hards, your better off talking to Bender, he is the local guru.

Sailing from the yacht club, there were no sandbars or other dangers to speak of. The wind was ESE with a definate windline about 1km out into the middle of the inlet. I suspect this was coz the wind was channelling around the "knoll" which is a point of land that sticks out into the middle of the inlet.

It got a bit gusty as you came into the yacht club, so sometimes you got great runs other times it fizzed out on you.

If you were likely to get the same conditions, then I couldn't recommend it high enough. Probably not the greatest speed spot but a fantastic spot for something different. Also there are plenty of other things to do i.e. the treetop walk, a few wineries etc. if the wind doesn't blow.
