An unusual day with wind quite brisk and SW to SSW most of the day. Went for 1 hrs and distance. A bit disappointed with the 1 hr but rapt in the distance.

Wind at atart of the first hour attempt was 16-20, increased to 18-24 for the second hour an slightly more for the third hour.

First hour: IS 87 with 34 Select fin, 2010 5.8 KA Koncept. Second and third hour I changed to KA 30 cm fin. Then I got the IS50 with TM48 fin and 5m Koncept for a few speed runs but it was too tight and not really windy enough.

We signed up Mal Faulkner (Red) today and he made a huge effort on the distance. He would have gone very close to my distance but his garmin got full and overwrote his first hour an a half at least. He still got 136.61 out of it though. Will post when we have finished signing him up.Laughing

A quick session with Daffy chasing 1hr glory. Will add more info latter

Rigged the Ka 6.6 and 5.8 with the AB and Kids Pro for some 1hr sessions with Daffy. A quick chat and a swipe of the nice CA50 with the TM26 in the back off i went with the 5.8. Adjust footstraps, move the mast back a bit and this board is just flying off it tail.Fully powered up and Loving it.Tongue out    Opps spun the fin out...........Opps caught an edge............Opps i,m standing in the water with my sail all around me.Yell A sticky back repair...mmmmm ...not. Grab the 6.6 and start the 1hr againCry and hang on. The combo is just great, a bit heavy and overpowered, but just motoring through the chop.Still jybes a bit wide but with a bit more practice you could get it around a bit tighter. I tried to explain to Daffy that I,d lost his board, but with a sad heart i gave it back Cry It just left me with a warm after glow and a Pb.........I know what my next board will be. Tongue outTongue out  Thanks to Tom for leaving the board in the trailer Cool

Oooh Daffy lays down some BIG numbers, bags a PB and helps put the Pit Crew in a formidable position for January, plus he moves up to 4th in the individual rankings, and a formidable 1st for 2010.

Well done Daffy!

...and not a Western Australian in the top 5???!!

Thanks for the kind comments. Smile. I'm a bit stuffed. Might need a good lie down for.... a day...Undecided or two!

Great 1 hour Craig!!Cool Destroying you 5.8m sail and being forced to use the 6.6m was a good tactic.Laughing

I am quite chuffed that I did 3 x 1 hr's and a bit of speed sailing and blasting around and didn't drop a gybe all day until the last 10 mins. That made me realise it was time to quit. Frown

Out of interest (boredom?) I counted up the gybes for the session. = 197

41 in the first 1 hr

51 in the second and best

7 in between trying another fin.

53 in the third only 0.06 knots behind the second

14 on the IS50 speed board,

and another 31 at the end on the IS87 just for fun! Smile

The only one I dropped was the 17th in the last session Embarassedso I made myself do another 14 as penance.Smile

Needless to say, I think the IS87 gybes like a dream!

Welcome to the team Mal and some excellent numbers there! I know what Shelby means - it is hard to think of time I have been at the PiT when you weren't there also! Even the mid-winter day that all of us Pit crew but Mat cowered in the BBQ while you and Mat hooned about in near zero temps and 50 knot winds!  Embarassed

Hi Steve. Runs were just on 1/2 a Nautical mile each, or around 1km. :-)

Craig was making slightly longer runs in slightly choppier water and for the 1 hr this paid off (that and a 6.6m v's my 5.8m). But I was also going for distance and wanted to make it as relaxing as possible so I figure 8'ed more, closer to the bank. I tried to post the GX track view but is was just a big blue blurry smudge so a deleted it.

Here is just to northern end. The wider gybes were the ones on the IS50 in the later speed session.
