I've been thinking about getting an old formula board for a while now..... Got one this morning Laughing Yes I know Annie, but Borgy still has more sails! Laughing I think.... Laughing I got an old Kinetic Formula 95 and put my 7.8 lightning on it with the largish huge Leading Edge weedie that came with it. The wind seemed a bit lighter than the 15 knots Seabreeze was recording, but it was plenty for the old Kinetic!Laughing

The deck was a tad slippery... so I resorted to waterstarting in the straps, which is surpirsing easy with 150 litres under your feet! I've driven a couple of 200+ tonne ferries and this thing drove a bit the same.... lots of foot pressure, nothing happening, more foot pressure, nothing happen, even more foot pressure then bang off it goes, then lots of reverse foot pressure to stop it! But bloody hell was it fun! Point it and off you go!!Laughing Broad reaches and cranking up wind are heaps of fun.

Cheryl, Danny, Steve and I think Borgy were out. There was even some wind out past the sandbar and everyone seemed to be planning most of the time, where was the rest of the team?!Laughing

Stuffed up. Should have gone the 141 and 7.5.  Arrived and saw people planing on 6's.  Went out back and found some gusts, but kept getting slammed by chop or stopping dead in lulls. Bit fatigued with previous two days of sailing.  Wondered who was straightlining across the pond at break neck speed - Scotty.  Saw Danny and Steve testing.  Cheryl must have a new sail.  Couldn't pick her.

Scott, welcome to the PSS FORMULA Ninja Turtles!!!!

Maybe a bit of sand paint (like they use on metal decks on ferries) might help with the grip?

Hey Scott

Just mask up the board, roll some epoxy (UV inhibited best) and sprinkle white sugar on. Let dry, brush off excess, hose down and sail away contentedly with no grip issues again. Just done my 2006 Isonic. Brilliant! Smile

Scotty, I would go the textured marine grade steel deck, perhaps with additional strips of skateboard deck grip just to be sure!

If you sugar the deck I would go brown sugar...it's healthier! Laughing

I spent the day sitting around at the Perth Motorplex with the car club display at the CAMS Festival of Motorsport...rivetting...not!
