First Day back home. Went out to green island in cams tinny. wind was very good. plan was to park at green rig up and sail over to arlington reef for some epic nautical mile runs. so i rigged the 6.4 koncept and The nude streaker version 1.5 that I begged chris to let me bring over. 26cm c3 venonm fin. About half way to arlington realised we were pointing to high and would miss the reeef so headed back to green for a few runs. got some high 38's which was a pb so was prettty happy. next attempt at goin to arlington was more success full as the vis had improved we managed to spot cams sail blasting about as he had driven the tinny over. Wind was still honking and the waves were creating some nice smooth water for about as far as the eye could see. yeeeehhaaa went fanging off downwind. anothor few 38s and fading light. hell chop sailing back upwind was pretty knackered but knew there was more to be had so did a few more runs and bettered my time a smidgen. couldnt jibe to save myself today.  another mission with cam another good day. thanks kingy loch and cam. and kelly for the rum that i just cracked the top off and chris and james for letting me bring the nude streaker across. oh yeah the waves looked pretty good to.

Lake Tinaroo, QLD, AU

went to tinaroo for a sail with THE FLYING DUTCHMAN and had a sail with Herb and Lyn as well. (thought they were in Kurrimine)

good sail .....a little cold......but a few rums kept us warm

JP s/sport 126 and aerotech 7.2 sail

Dr Cam found a new spot for us today -scary getting there-I had to sail the 7klms over from Green Island on the speed board & 5.8rsr in mountainous seas...

Obviously didnt sail the full NM distance hence the poor result here...

Amazing day

The ride in the boat back to shore was Epic-seas were huge!!

FNQ has a nautical mile spot!!!!

Epic Day -sailed with Locky & Ben aka Troppo.

Ca 53 Maui ultra 26 RSR evo 2 7 then Ca 47 Venom 26 RSR 5.8

Challenging Rigging conditions to say the least -ie standing in chest deep water with the boat swinging around in the wind with a rope strapped around midline trying to avoid the various rocks/corals & urchins on the sea floor !!!

Stoked.

Great results peoples, it's expensive and a bit of mucking around getting out there but when you have a good day like that it's worth it.

I recon the Northern side of Michaelmas Cay would be a great place for flat water.....You would have to dodge the snorkelersSmile

Thanks all for the kind words!!!-the wind was 25-30 knots for most of the day & the swell out wide was 2-3 m.At the reef margin where the NM sailing occured there was rolling swelling around 1/2m high but glass in between -bliss!!!

The challenge was picking the line -really had to concentrate to avoid getting airborne.

Getting our boat in to anchorage was interesting...

Average water depth was probably 50-80cm on the run so fins were completely safe -we measured the Western inside section of the reef on the way back -7klms long !!!!!!!& thats only a small section ...

Pointing back upwind to the boat was the hard part!!!

Tongue out Absolutely ferken awesome guys, so happy for you (and a little jealous), big big congrats CoolCoolCool

I can just imagine sailing 8 Klm across very rough open ocean in 25 gusting to 30 odd knots on speed boards to get to Arlington Reef SurprisedAnd to do those speeds when the closest bit of any sort of land is 8 klm away, that sort of thing doesn't happen every day anywhere Wink

Happy birthday HERB !!! & Huge effort Hans ...

Ideal set up for Arlington I've decided would be a permanently moored ,fully enlcosed rigging pontoon directly North of Green Island .

Will put the idea to Tourism FNQ& GBRMPA -an entire Speed Windsurf market is there to be tapped ...!!!

Sausage re the rigging-had no option-rear deck space on boat not suitable so had to do it in the water -the really hard bit was getting the extension to click onto the baseplate -must have taken 10minutes -more expletives uttered in that rigging session than in all other rigging sessions combined including when the X9s broke...
