Never thought would sail.. trees was moving a little, went to check.. just enough for 6.7, so geared up Wink. Should have used bigger gear but though, this or nothing!

Safety Bay out there, square to the beach, first sail in this direction.. better that not sailing and staying home not doing much , the sun was out too, good to catch some fresh air..Tongue out

The big advantage of living by the beach, a window of opotunity presents itself, and you're out there.

Just couldn't resist, 19c air and water temp, sunshine, smooth water and 15kts.

Seemed like a great oppotunity to try Bug's 7.3, but of course by the time I'd rigged the sun had gone, although the wind had picked up a knot or so.

It's the biggest sail I've used, seemed strange having sooo much power in so little wind.

Dot was taking some pictures for Bugs, (pity she hadn't worked out how to use the pan head, the swivel lock was on, so she just clicked when I went past. A lot of shots with only bits of me, still It was really nice of her to brave the cold wind for the sake of science)

Heading North towards Gearie's, (don't worry I gybed before I got in the waves)

Avalon, Avalon sail co &.3

Avi bay heading south

Coming back the other way, level with home.

A good test of the leight weight stuff, this sail only ways 4.3kg!!! No momon film, so it's as strong as.

Think I had it on a bit too tight, but I was a bit nervous when I went out, didn't want to be too overpowered, as it was there was no problem, it felt very comfortable.

Also had a couple of experimental footsraps on, Keiths ways 48gm, and mine weighs 25gms, but mine is very basic, will need to try it for a few hundred kms to see how it wears.

Had about 3 really nice runs, then somebody told Huewy Elmo was on his way, so the wind got turned off. I was washing off when Elmo arrived.

Better luck tomorrow guys, I won't join you I've got a lunch committment.

Wow, that sail looks absolutely fantastic!

Will have to borrow it when you're not looking to see how it goes Laughing

Nebs, It's not mine, It's Bugs's, and he would love you you to try it out!!!!

But I do have a 6.0 a 5.3 and still to come a 4.7, that you are more than welcome to try if the wind is stronger.

It's your sort of sail. 1 camber inducer, that has absolutely no pressure on it, a thin luff tube that doesn't fill with tons of water, very stable and user friendly.

And I think it is fast. 29kts running fairly square in 15kts wind isn't too bad for the first time I've sailed it.

Various grades of Xply, heavy duty where the main loads go, lighter stuff where there's no load, so you can put a hole in it if your catapult hook first into it, but the hole won't spread, all it'll need is sticky back either side.

No problems seeing thru it though.

My 6.0, the first of these started life with 3 cambers, but as Bugs worked on them, he discovered they only need 1. So that's the way all of them are now, 1 camber inducer.

They acheive their shape very differently to other sails, the battens naturally sit next to the back of the mast, not in front of it.

The camber has zero load on it, (thus it rotates supper easy), it's not trying to push the sail into shape, just connect it to the mast
