Sat at home in the heat waiting for the cool change to arrive and eventually a nice 15 southerly cooled everything nicely. Headed to the lake an rigged a 6.4 in the slowly growing breeze. Grant arrived a I rigged and it looked like a cruisey day, said he'd be back later with his gear and join me. Headed out and the breeze was starting to build and got my 2 sec peak in some nice flat water over the sand bars. Win then shifted up a gear to a solid 25 knots and I struggles back to carpark and trying to decide wether to rig 5 or 5.8. In the few minutes I took to decide it had built to a solid 30 knots.

Took out the 5m and a 23 KA fin and was getting pummelled. Never seen the lake this angry. Made my way up to the sandbars and just stood in the water as the wind started to him 35 gusting to 40. There was "smoke" on water and I just bunkered down and waited for a lull. Got a lull and took off but rough water and being just made for some anxious moments culminating a big spill landing on my boom and giving myself a good corky on my thighs....

By this stage Grant had arrived and headed out on his 5. Wind had dropped to a solid 25 gusting to 30 by now but my Mojo had left me..

Even though I topped the speeds , I did it in a nice breeze with some flat water. Well done to my team mates who did it in the rough and tumble of the later part of the day..

Lake Connewarre, VIC, AU

Carbonart 47 Severne Blade wave sail 5.0 with hole KA 23 fin

Missed all the ballistic winds. Still fun sail underpowered but able to ride the chop easier. Didn't last the hour home quick for a shower. Smelt lovely.

Good to catch up at the lake today even though it was probably the worst sail I have ever hadYell

Jacques - yes Saturday is looking ok. I think if I read it right the tide will be a couple of hours earlier, might make up for today

Just think Red, she could have asked you to do the lawns yesterday and you would have said 'yes of course', and today - well the lawns would be mowed and you wouldn't have a corky, and the Lake wouldn't be all that smug either.
