Estuary  SW 25-55 kmh according to Wunderground

Gusty and choppy but a pretty nice session since the sun was out. Water is cold and couldn't feel my feet.Time for boots.

First run on my new board. 51cm(68lit) scaled down version of my 54. Nice board in these conditions.

Maui 5.5 working real good now with a cobbled up 400/20 mast in it...wasn't good at all with the 'real deal' mast.

Anybody else sail?

Would be good to see NZ on the board this month.

Interetsing your new  51 is only 68lit, my calculations for the 42 I've got on the go come out at 67lit.

Do you think there will be any sailing tomorrow Mike?

Hi decrepit, just checked my notes and it's actually even bigger at 70.4 lit. Maybe it's thicker than yours? Max thick 101 at 1000' 99 thick at the mast. I'm finding as I get older and more decrepit, I have trouble sailing my small vol boards in our typically gusty winds. Used to be able to sail my 45cm speedy all conditions but not any more, tis a bugger getting old! Dan sailed also,he's late with the data, probably still thawing out his fingers!

Hey Ian, Don't think sailing will be on, we're in for dying southerly Saturday am. Hope so, I'm on the bike.

Doubt it's any thicker, mine is only 42cm as opposed to your 51cm. My 53 is over 80litres, (I can uphaul it with my feet just out of the water).

Can't uphaul the 48cm but I can still sail it, if it's a bit over 12kts.

For the same reason as you, I like as much volume as possible.

I'm sure our water isn't as cold as yours, but in winter with cold fresh water in the estruary, it isn't fun spending to much time submerged.
