Morning sail before work wanted to try out the TR8 5.9 but there was bugger all wind still managed to hook a few gusts to get planning sail felt really nice(as all sails do nowdays) had plenty of pull and yet still maintained nice light feel, looking forward to the new TR9's when they arrive, wind just stopped and ended up with a swim back to the car.

Port Germein, SA, AU

Staying at Pirie for a few days and went to Port Germein for a look. Tide was way out but rigged and carted the gear out to the waters edge then dragged the gear another 300meters to take off ( nearly a kilometer all up ). The wind was off shore and patchy 0-20knots. Was able to get going but was wayr of the shallows. Lots of weed getting stuck on the weedy which doesn't happen back home. Getting back in was like trying to sail into a funnel so another long walk was had.The wind was off shore and you'd think the water would be flat in close but it was steep jarring chop. Good to get a sail in but if i had to rate Port Germein as a sailing destination it rates 1 out of 10.

The forcase never delivered Cry Spent more time under water glugging, was hard work for the first hour and a half. Wore myself out should have rigged bigger & used bigger board, but a 27k forcast was hopefull. Did hook some short lived gusts but it was dam hard work going from sinking  to planning as the gusts were very short & abrupt.

Stansbury Kinetic57 Koncept5.8 30 LE Weedie.  It was hot & the gear dried wihle packing up!

Interesting day. Rigged the smallest I had a 7.3 GP2 but was getting blown off the water in the gusts. Peter turned up and by the time he rigged up a 5.5! the wind had soften a bit but was still a handful in the gusts. Tried the Delta Slalom 22, works great but was letting go going upwind through the chop, fast fin in flat water not so comfortable in chop. change to black Progects Freeride 38 thought it might be a bit small for the board but it was fantastic did not spin out once and was a solid secure fin to sail with. It was very gusty with the wind droping out after blowing 28 knots. Should have gone faster if i had had more balls but going through the chop overpowered shrank my balls!

Pretty gusty, very hot 37c day. Big stack on first run back, thought wtf am I doing then wind eased off and enjoyed day till wind eased off more and 5.6m no good. Fin may have been to big as board threatened to roll many a time.

Good to see Gareth out and improving to.

Swimming back is never fun Choco, Jeff so we can tick Pt Germein off the road trip list. You didnt miss much at home either the wind was very gutless & very patchy

nice PB Gareth.

Yes, I had a bit of a look around up here  and nothing looks good for windsurfing. And while i was waterstarting out near the end of the jetty the movie Jaws was in my mind(was pretty fast waterstart)Wink

Tricky your getting higher peak speeds regularly now....

BTW - Self and Jamie have all of February off. I'll be parked down at Millicent/Lake George for that month. With Jamie we're planning a 400 km each day. Anyone else? Also means we're going to work up our fitness levels to.
