Neil and Craig mostly planing on 7-7.5m so rigged 6.9m on new 115l, but not enough so tried 118l which was better particularly at keeping up wind. Tried 115l a few more times but could not keep upwind and under- powered most of time. Sea was quite nice until later when got messy chop. Some nice roller, some quite steep.
115l felt smaller than expected, then found fin I thought was 42cm was only 36cm, maybe better next time. Warm in sun, but chilly in clouds. Nice day

Saturday 28th September – windsurf *** l’Epine, Ile de Noirmoutier – cloudy then rain :(

Xantos and Tushingham 7.8 – 24.51

Had a good night at our spot by the causeway at the Passage du Gois and after breakfast realised the wind was getting up so went to try and find a good place to sail.  That is easier said than done here!  Access to the beaches is limited but after riding round several spots and seeing no other windsurfers or kiters settled on a nice bay at l’Epine with the wind on-shore.  Rigged my biggest kit – my new lightweight Xantos and new Tushingham 7.8.  A kiter was up by this point so my plan was to beat out into the bay to take a closer look.  I had an hour sailing up and down the bay but the wind picked up quite strong so decided to return to the van.  Mag was off on a biking adventure, exploring this side of the island so I decided to have another go but was a bit chilly in my shorty!  The sea was pretty lumpy so after tangling with a drift net and with the rain just starting I decided to call it a day.  Mag had returned so we had lunch and a break before I packed up as it was still raining:(

First sail for a while -- nice day in the sun - had a job keeping the old bullet upwind but fun
