iSonic107 Ltrs, BP31, 5.6 Hucker Sail. Finally over the 30knots ! was very weedy out there due to low tide but the gears worked well. Everyone ran for cover as the big storm loomed ahead. We all got hammered with hail for good 20mn and stormy winds. Felt like being in Antartica for a while . We all called it a day as everyone was freezing.

Sailing Club ,Wallis Lake, NSW, AU

What a weird day.Very mixed weather conditions. Warm and dry in the morning, then cold and windy at the sailing Club, followed by a storm, rain and then some hail and more wind!

Good turn out at the "club. Rob, Peter, Andre, Bill and Anton, Ads, Chris and myself. faced with the usual dilema of what to rig. Rob meassured a few 25k gusts earlier and I was getting 15-20 most of the time with the wind looking promising.

Rigged the 5.5 Vapor, SL 79 with Vector 23 Weed speed fin. Das was first out and maxed out too, so everyone rigged a bit smaller, and typica,l the wind dropped after about 1/2 to 3/4 hr. after getting out. I got my best few runs early on and you could see a dark front moving in, so headed in after we all got the hint.We then got hit by this intense storm cell which had hail in it.  We were frozen with the cold and all opted out of a second session.

Here's some pics.

 My tracks today.

Harrington with Dion , Adam and Greg ,

Too small a fin for the southwesterly , wind blowing straight down the speed strip so square running , did 3 runs side ways out of control , fin wouldn't  hold up wind or down wind , had a bad run .

All runs where done sideways with no foot in the back strap .

Dion Greg and Adam smashed the harsh conditions and will post some good speeds , cant believe i took the small fin , big learning curve for sure .

Sanctuary Point, NSW, AU

Fun sail at Sanctuary Point in the Southerly. Blowing about 14 to 20 knots . Went out at about 3pm with a 8.5m sail and 42JP fin on the large JP supersport. Planning most of the time. Good to be back at this great windsurfing location.

Harrington, New South Wales, AU. Falcon 79, Vector Delta Speed 25, KA Race 7.1

Started to rig when the wind was a fun 15-17kn - rigged the 7.1 and intended to plug the 113 on and have an easy big gear sesh. About to carry the gear down the rock wall and the wind turns up to well over 20Kn, so kept the 7.1 and just threw on the Falcon 79. Was overpowered at the start with the 7.1, waterstaring to even start the run was difficult, so I found myself waiting for the lulls to launch and do a run. The wind eased back a lot when it started to get dark which was much easier. Only a short session today as it was so cold and I forgot my steamer - did it in a spring suit and was cramping up too much so called it a day

Quite a deep run on a SW which i really like, but the tide was raging in and it was creating rolling swell down the run which was scary at times getting to full power and the fin slips in the troughs - not every run, but you had to be careful. We all seemed to get our fair share of spin outs. We all were probably underfinned and didnt account for the effect that the tide would have had making the run bumpy. It is all experience and next time i will use a pointer rather than a stubby speed fin when the tde is raging in.

The crew (Mark.J, Dion and Greg) were racing along despite the difficult conditions. A fun arvo for sure, and i will be back down the next SW as well to refine my technique for the area as we all would have been faster with the extra confidence with different/longer fins

Canton Beach, NSW, AU - session started off a light S'ly but gradually built during the late afternoon to about 20-25 knots. Used my old (1995) Extreme Slalom 100L for a change, with a NP 6.5 V8 + 31cm JP weed free. Picked up a bit of weed when I went in too close to shore but that's where the flattest water was so had to stop a few times to get the weed off. Annoying, but made up for by the great wind strength and relatively smooth water conditions. Sailed with Mick, Pete & Geoff. A good session allround. Go Marauders!!

Dion you were killing it!!!!!! That combo you had was looking so balanced and your sailing technique is on fire - you have that gear dialled in so well - some of those runs there was hardly any board in the water - you sailed fast and looked bloody fast. So close to another PB too well done mate.

Bugger about that fin Mark. Some of those spin outs looked dangerous - lucky nobody caught a rail and rolled their ankle actually. My first run was 33.6kn and I had my front foot in the strap only, back foot in the middle of the board for stability as i didnt have the balance to find the back strap and no harness hook in either and then the spinout hit - farkin scary and most exhausting 600m sail ever. I carry extra fins in my camel pack - unfortunately yesterday i just packed smalled speed fins and not an alternative pointer - next time i will throw in a variety.

Congrats to the PBers

Spooky pictures Gabe. I couldnt tell from the piccy, but did Anton tie his board to that tree?
