15-20kts ENE Coal Point, NSW, AU- 6m severne overdrive , 95ltre rocket + 30cms weedie

Worked my way upwind and found the chop and boatwash a pain over the other side and above the point. Not too bad straight out from the jetty. I'll have to start using the 78ltre with the 6m.I may have to start planning my route through chop better too as I just set a route and then go straight through the worst of it..Embarassed

Got most of my gybes but no planing ones.. Tried to get up and do some runs on the sand islands but had trouble keeping upwind. I was trialing an adjustable outhaul Ray lent me on port tack and even though I didn't have it set up ideally I love the concept! Just pull it on until I get upwind then let it off for the runs...I didn't have it set right so I think the outhaul was too loose/full so that + the weedie may have made it harder to get upwind.

Disappointed in my speed..Frown Alpha + distance were better than expected. Andrew, James, Lajos , Alwyn , Scott + assorted others out.

Bit disapointed in my sialing but maybe I'm just raising the bar too high..I know I am with the art..Smile

Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU

Peel St, 15-18 knotsish, nice flat water.  Arrived early, no-one there, went out with 7.6 & seatrend 276, was strong but OK so i had a short sail & came back as I thought the 6.6 might be quicker. 6.6 was OK but a bit small  in the lulls.  Great arvo with Mick, Pugs, Matt, Dave (who did 20 knots & planed for 1st time), Wayne. Paulie D.

Exocet RS4 111, Mauisails TR8 7.6, Select SL9 43 - Wind ENE 15 kts

Really nice sail at coal point.  Wind was fairly consistent for most of the hour that I sailed.  Had to stop a few times to pull weed off the fin, but most of the time could shed it with a chop hop.  Nice long cruisy runs.  Plenty of people out - I had to park in the overflow carpark up the top as it was chock full - great to see!

Andrew and Hugh were doing some nice runs down through the sand islands.  There must be a special channel because it looked shallow to me!

Fanatic XXX 105 and then Naish sp95 both with TR7 6.6

Moderate NE, never strong but always choppy and very weedy. Big turn out for Coalie, counted at least 10 guys out.

well done bruce on some great PBs,  you are on fire at the moment.   Will have to check out peel street next time there is a good forecast.  Need a solid 18-20 kts as I only have a weed fin for my small board (6.6 and below).

Nice PBs Bruce !

James I call the most upwind channel the 'Byron' channel, as he was the only one crazy enough to go through it at top speed last year.I now use it the most often for my speed runs, it gets less wind but is flatter than sailing below the sand islands. I have been through it with a 40 cm fin, but do not consider anything longet than that, Today I was on a 32cm.
