Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Not sure why we sat in between 25 knots in Sydney and 30 in Newcastle, but that seems to be the way it is at the moment. I blame Froth and his packed lunch... way too much preparation...

Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU - You know the story, supposed to blow W'ly 25-30 knots so I only took the small gear today. Carbon Art SL55 (93L) + NP 6.5 V8 + 19cm MUF.

Well guess what? It didn't blow at all!! Maybe 10-15 knots at best so we dogged around off the plane a lot of the time. Came in and had a cuppa and a snack bar and then it looked like it picked up a tad so I went back out for another short semi-reasonable session. Not as cold today as I had the full neoprene gloves on, plus a long sleeve rashie under the wettie as well as a new impact/bouyancy vest, so I was nice and warm.

Sailed with the CC Marauder crowd - Mick, Milsy, Frothie later Old Pete  as well as LM Sue and Jono from Umina.

Cheers all Marauders.

Wallis Lake, NSW, AU

Very choppy conditions today. Rigged ISonic 107, 6.5 Severne and 33 GunSail weed Control fin. Wind filled in early then dropped somewhat when the clouds came in. Reduced crew today with Bill, Anton, Peter and Gabe. Good to sail after such a long time. Too little sailing this year !

Wallis Lake, NSW, AU Great to get a sail at long last. 6.5m and 1.1l futura board. Gusty westerly but any sail is good during the current dry times. Good to catch up with everyone at Wallis lakes again.

Hmmm, by the looks of that glad I didnt. Like Mick I was all keen for a strong wind blat and some famous Peely flatness. Crap down here and Marvellous Marvin told me it was cold, 10 knots and looking like rain. Bugger.

I can feel a Personal Development Day coming next time its on during the week!!!!!!

Hey Captain. Bugger the wind came in to late for you - but seriously you didnt miss anything great.

The new launch spot is practically walk in walk out - so it will be great for taking in smaller gear onto the bank MArk, without fear of having a long paddle home when the wind drops out.  . Great view of the lake from the top, so you can really see what the wind is doing and rig accordingly. Not much wind in close for launching, even in the Westerly wind today, I had to swim my gear across the first small chanel as it got deep to walk (mind you it was still quite a high tide) then walk over the bank till it was then deep enough to launch with a 30cm fin.

The only warning that I can give is that you stay east of the white signs when launching and coming in. I launched on the eastern side no worries, but coming back in I was on the western side and there are quite a few submerged poles in the water - reminents of old oyster leases I guess.....copped about 4 with my knee when walking in belly deep water which was quite murky today -they are pretty solid chunks of wood so it hurt like a bastard.

If we ever get a massive SW ever again in our lifetimes, rigging a speedboard and walking straight onto the strip from this spot is the go!!!

Prob also need to put up a flag or something because it is such a small entry point that finding the launch spot from a distance was a challenge, I had to do an extra tack in and out because it wasnt where I thought it was.

Wont start from the stinky weed launch at Bobs again now we have this spot. Great find Captain!

I agree Adam, great spot especially when you drive your car all the way down to the bottom where you were parked. I managed to sail across first channel when I launched but had to swim back across when returning, water was over my head in spots and the current was quite strong too. There is a blue pool that is on the eastern edge of the launch spot that is visible from a fair way out. That helped me on the return. Will be good when the wind is strong enough to take speed boards. Look forward to the next big wind!!
