Good sail with Mark at Queens Lake. Typical gusty Sw at 5-18 knots. Nice and flat on the mud bank so had plenty of runs but very gusty.

F2 sx medium, Hsm Gps 6.6m, Jp 31cm weedy.

Sailing Club, Wallis Lake, NSW, AU

 SW 5-20kts, 7.0GTX, 101 falcon, 32cm BP weedfin.

Sailed with Aaron from the sailing club and met up with Bill & Anton on the weedbank and I think Rob tried to launch from Green Point but didn't make it all the way out during a long lull.

Nice smooth water and a good depth of water on the weedbank, great angle to sail just the wind didn't come to the party.

Canton Beach, NSW, AU - SSW 15-25 knots and bloody freezing!! NP 7.5 V8 + JP 112L + JP 31cm weedie. Think I have been spoilt by Peely of late, either that or Canton has gotten much choppier since a lot of the weed was removed....maybe it's just me?

Sailed with Mick, Nigel, Frothy, Old Pete, Bill, LM Sue and a bit later The Cobra & LM Bruce. Only about 5 or 6 kites out today but the learners are the worry when they drop their kites in front of you.

Anyway back to work tomorrow, bugger.

Cheers.

Canton Beach, NSW, AU Wasn't much when i turned up. Pete and Nigel had come in very dissapointed and said it was all gone. Half hour later it started fill in  pretty nice so rigged big. Tried out new sail which took a little tinkering but felt pretty good in the end. 10/15 with a couple of hang the faark on gusts. The same old faces braving the freakin cold conditions and not complaining. 135 Patrik 8.5 Koncept 36 Jp weedy. Soldier on Froth you massive legend!!! Go Marauders!!!

Coomba Bay, NSW, AU 6m GP2 Tabou Rocket 105. Way under powered so missed my 6.6GPS. Wind went more westerly than forcast so getting back turned into an epic. Interesting experience with onset of hypothermia. Lost my ability to uphaul in light winds. Muscles just stopped responding and found myself floundering about 200m from shore in fluky winds. Decided to swim gear in but repidly bacame exhausted. Had to call out for HELP!. Fist time I have ever done that and a freind heard me and came out with a kayak and paddled me to shore. By the time I staggered in and I mean staggered I was shivering quite violently. I was wearing a spring under my steamer and full balaclava style hood. This experience has taught me a lot and have decided on a number of things if we are going to sail in these kind of winter conditions.

1. I am going to get a better wet suit.

2. I will have my mobile on me in a water proof pouch.

3. Have some sort of rescue kayak available. If something happened out in the middle of the lake we need to be able to handle it effectively.

4. Always sail with some one and look out for each other.

Queens Lake, NSW, AU

Short session. Sailed with Steve. Arm started hurting again so called it quits.

Happy with my speed on the IS 107. First time over 30 Knots on this board.

Mud Bank super flat big tide. Could sail all over the Mud Bank.

I-Sonic 107, 6.7m VMG, 31 JP Weed.

Caught up doing family stuff, good to see so many got out still.

Friday is my only next chance, hopefully I don't get caught out on a job!

Can't wait to have a blast on the speed board again one day Mick, want to get 40 before the end of winter!

Bill a 5/4/3 wettie is the go + helmet or hood and boots and gloves - still b cold though!

Wayne I think Canton is choppier. It used to have a lot of flat and then there was at least one area of flat but I think the lake is up and maybe the weed clearad a bit and I couldn't find any flat today! About 6" chop.

Some serious hypothermia there Bill. Glad you got bak OK.

It was pretty cold everywhere on Sunday and the water temp + real air temp made it especially cold to be sailing. As Sue said, a new wettie could be the go. I am thinking of doing the same as my 2/3 did not handle it very well either... Cheers.

The shocking aspect for me was just how debilitating it was. We sail out from Coomba up to 6 k from where we launch so we can be a long way from home.

Thats' what struck me when I sailed Wallis in summer - its a big lake and it could be nasty to get caught out!

Just read your post Bill. Sounded scary mate. Your back-up ideas sound good, especially the phone.

I've got a theory that I won't sail anywhere I can sail or walk home from. So most runs for me are less than 1 kay out to sea- and only in onshre winds. Better safe than sorry I say.

Great PB Anton!  You're hammering considering your time on the water. Well done.

Great Pb Atomic, I had a look and see you've had lots this year, congrats mate. Congrats also Bairdy Cool

Good to see a happy outcome Bill, I can't imagine that cold. A mate of mine used to have a good quality whistle, good if you're not too far from shore.
