Driving back form Conwy saw no wind in Penmaenmawr but white water in Llan then wind disappeared half way to Aber. Didn't go out as guessed gusty as it usually is around the headland. With nothing to lose rigged 144/8.5m and wind a bit up and down and swinging slowly, but OK. Surprised to get a sail as little forecast. Clouds in land so maybe a sea breeze. First time planing with this board and a little harder to get going than I expected. Seems comfortable, maybe won't back in Felixstowe chop, but does not feel quick.Wind dropped as tide dropped, maybe same breeze Friday?
Didn't switch GPS on first ride which was a long one so added 1nm on.
Took £25 VHF out for safety tucked inside my wetsuit. Felt a burning, took it out and it leaked water and shorted batteries melting the case inside.

a 5 ***** session two days running :) After a long 12 hour night shift last night I managed to sleep to 11 !!! and at midday I decided to take my gear to The Dip and see if I could get out on a shortboard before I was off to work again at 4:43 !!! There was about 13 mph ne on the beach, lighter than yesterday so rigged 8.5 and took out the big xantos, it didn't seem windy enough to start but got going farther out and had 2hrs 20 mins non-stop on the water :) There were 20 or so 505's racing just offshore so I had some fun playing with them and there was a big Cutty Sark style two mast sailing ship moored 2/3 miles out so I sailed out to check that out :) Only one other sailor was out with me, Andy Mexome on his 130 and for the second day no kiters !!! The beach was crowded with people enjoying the fantastic weather and after sailing through the bumpy water out to sea you could once again gybe in flatish water close to the beach although I am having real trouble turning this larger board as is Swainy ??? I don't know why as the 133 goes around lovely !!! Got in at 3:15 packed up in readyness for tonights shift only to discover that I had been swopped to Friday day shift and that job may continue for two more weeks and I thought I had retired !!!
