fangy (22667km): Redemption Day for all those called fangman who suffered unjustly on Monday. Although Captain Calm came up trumps with an old fibercrapsnap boom clip, I trusted the other clip about as far as I can spit. Generally lacking in volume and direction these days I just didn't want to take that chance, so the back up boom went for a splash today instead.
I thought I had done a great job of getting one snotgobbler organised and off to school, leaving the other dying quietly in bed from latest school lurgy doing the rounds. So I was amazed to see Wazza all ready to go when I got to Wamba. I suspect he got a birthday present this morning.
Eventually even Captain Calm and Muffin kicked off their slippers and fronted. At about this time Wazza had a screaming run and ended up on the shoreline checking the Speed Genie for what had to be a monster PB. He then calmly announced his GT31 was flat.....
I chucked the kit in the chowder. My usual winter fare of QEII blended with a big dollop of Koncept8.5 and spiced up with the LEDecrepitmodifiedcarbonweedywhoselengthIcantremember.
A WNW breeze and high tide made for reasonable conditions to start with. The aim was to beat up one of the feather weights on my team and get a jelly bean back . Not the most realistic of goals I know. Indeed as a look at my GPSResults numbers, I can see the reflection of my face in the monitor. It has the appearance of someone on life's highway who has just seen the flash of the speed camera.
Actually that is being a bit harsh. I had a great session as the wind picked up around lunch time. I thought I had pulled off some nice gybes, but unfortunately I have run too wide. So although the numbers are not great for the alpha, I had a massive smile on the dial when I got one to plane all the way round. I had a ball just digging in the rail of the big girl and pushing with that back foot to throw as big a rooster tail as I could.
So what could blight my day? Well you may recall I had my back up boom strapped in place today. You can possibly imagine my mood for the few moments after when I was cruising along and suddenly found my self in the water, boom still in my hand but not attached to mast. Not Happy. The hinge on the front end mast clasp had given way. !@#$%^& I rigged up temporary solution and made it back to shore and after venting a little, Captain Calm came up trumps yet again and I was back in the soup with a jury rigged boom front end that worked a treat. As the tide fell and the breeze strengthened Fangy's turned on some beautiful flat water. For the last hour it was sublime. Clear water, blue sky and good if a little lightish breeze.
Eventually the caring father in me decreed it was time to go home and check on the offspring. She is fine, having penalised me for leaving her by eating most of the pantry.
A day that had a bit of everything, but definitely another top ten fangy day.

Decrepit (54483km): Another fun day from Wamba St at Fangys. light wind high tide flat water, so went with the 65, 6.6 and 29 45d. Of course as soon as I started to rig, Jamie fell off the plane, but I wasn't letting Fangy heavy me over it, after all he's the switch, if he wasn't there, the wind would have picked up, (which it did once he'd left, a little too much at times). Would have liked to go for an hour, but there were too many lulls to do any good.
(Mu-) fin (15418km): COODANUP, AU WA, wet dreems custom, 7m GTX, 26cm weed
Things where going quite well dispite some short lulls, and interesting gusts until the wind started dropping off. I thought one more run wile I was stil plaining, and about 2kays out it was time to jibe, but no such luck, the wind just died,.. nothing! Luckily it was only chest deep, so a 45min slog throug weed and slime.... totaly spent in the end!!!. . OK after some clouser examination it apears the slog was only 1kay and a bit, but still took about 45min, ... and felt like 4! Thats my story, and I'm stiking to it. .
WazzaYotty (2200km): !!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAMIE !!!!!
Captain Calm here, exercising my perogative, of interfering at will with anybody elses posts. Reason being, Jamie's GPS developed a flat battery at the most inconvienient time, just before a screaming run on dead flat water. So I lent him my backup gt11, hence I have to join the 2 files together. And Jamie is now enjoying life in another state, much too hard for him to post. Jamie you unit turned on at 0826, and turned itself off at 0851. You started sailing with mine at 0913. There was no sign on the card, of the unit being left on. I'll make sure it's fully charged, then see how long it goes for. T Thanks mike, wazza here. I really am grateful for you posting my results. Cheerswazza |
