Better than yesterday, but I missed the best of it, yoyo reported 17kts at 1430, but it had dropped signicantly by 1530.

went with the 6.6, 65 and 29 @45d

Nicely powered for about the first 10mins then it started to die, lulls got longer and gusts shorter and weaker. Came in before I had to slog all the way home.

Cheech and Chong Convention Centre - Fangy's. The usual weekday story, i was desperate to get a sail in before the school bus so I hit the broth at lunch time and went for a trip into the weed forest. QEII, Koncept8.5 Delta24 honeycomb. There is a monumental amount of weed at Fangy's. I was expecting to see some Hippies campaigning for medicinal use camped on the foreshore. But in the end it was just me and Scott NoMates.

I spent a little time nosing like an  icebreaker through the thicker bergs but once I was out into the last weed line I had my own little Lilacs. It was insanely smooth. I had donned my 'Delta Shield of Berg Invincibility' and was having a great time pretending it was the Everglades, skimming through bergs and generally carving it up being silly. Unfortunately I didnt read the instructions for my 'Delta Shield of Invincibilty'. In the fine print somewhere it does suggest using it in water rather that weed forest in the shallows. Having been lulled into a false sense of security I hit a berg and launched around the handle bars. This not only resulted in the loss of a nicely iced Mojito and its exquisite paper umbrella but also some excessive loading on the boom from braking the Bargearse to 0knots in a very short period of time.

I called the waiter over to clean up the mess, ordered another cocktail and climbed aboard and sailed happily off again hoping no one had seen my little faux pas. I had travelled a number of centimetres before I fell in again. Oddly, still attached to my boom. Boom not attached to my mast. As reliably as the rising of the sun, I had once again done in a boom. I uttered a few choice words to be sure. Time for Go Go Gadget cocktail cruising emergency boom repair.

The forest of weed is so thick that unless you are looking for Dr Livingstone and armed with a machete you cant walk through it for any length of time, especially if there is a school bus to meet. So within minutes i had lashed together something that looked only sightly more primitive than Gilligan would have managed in the same setting.

I ordered another cocktail and requested a straw this time because i didnt think i would have a spare hand. I was right. Yep I was suprised by that too.

My Gilligan lashing job didnt really have the grip to stop my boom from slowly migrating down the mast. So I sailed trying to put as little downward pressure as possible  and occasionally pushing the boom back up as I went along.

This was nowhere near as bad as it sounds because the water was so smooth, so in the end i stayed out and I got my peak speed whilst wrestling with the boom. I can only wonder how I would have gone if it was actually all in one piece!

Eventually I spotted nanna Stropoo on shore and called it a day.. in case he was coveting my unguarded chair.

A beautiful day in boardies and another top ten Fangy day.Laughing

There you go Larko, return to form:-)

P.S. A number of people have asked if I am organising another order of Deltas. If you are in Mandurah/Perth/Bunbury and interested, private message me on seabreeze @ fangman with what you would like and I will get the wheels in motion. The number of fins order needs to be a certain $amount before it becomes worthwhile to do, so if there are not enough people I wont order just yet.

It was great out on the outer bank Mike, but a bit scary at times in amongst the bergs. The delta cut through 9 out of 10 without a problem, it was just that the tenth one might stop you dead if you were not paying attention! A higher tide and stronger wind would make the inside bank an option too, so I am looking at Monday eagerly now:-)
