Andrew Haigh (48951km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Naish 95sp and Maui TR9 6.6 Nice Start to the month. Moderate southerly. Ultra flat water - Hardly a ripple. I don't to sound like Byron but "I was underdone with the 6.6 just needed another 5 kts"
Tibor (17557km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU My maiden voyage with a delta fin!....well!...of course the wind died as well but not before i could get this dizzy speed recorded. anyway,it was a strange experience sailing through weed that was right on top of the water as well and not get catapulted. mind you l wasnt going fast but still...l just wish l went out earlier but there is or maybe another day yet to try.
Bruce Healey (24088km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Those buggers who were on the morning shift used all the good wind leaving just a dodgy S-SE for Tibor, me, Mick & Sue. You would think they would leave a bit for the old folks. CASL62, 7.6, 19MUF
sboardcrazy (24381km): 10- 20kts brandon lane SSE Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU. It seemed to be blowing c 20kts when I arrived so rigged the 6.6m Severne + 95ltre Rocket + 20cms Delta. Died down a bit. Mainly 10 -18kts occ puff more. Bugger of a work up to the flat area. Ended up going right out into the chop to get up there. Maybe because I was on a less floaty board and grovelling at times but I was grinding along the bottom a lot in the area circled on the map. Wind patchy in there and hard to tell when it was coming - mainly feel with a few dark patches on clearer water. Didn't try and gybe as too shallow and not enough wind. The rocket is faster but I would have had a better sail with the bigger Kit. I've got a bit of dense rubber under the back of the fin and it didn't push back even with grinding so happy there.. Still lost the front fill layers so will have to silicone an area. Bruce and Tibor out. Bruce you too a risk flying that close under me as I was grovelling ! Boy you guys are trusting .. I had no idea you were coming.. Might have been ok with bigger kit but a bit too much E in it I think for that area. Pretty sure the graph is overreading a few knots. Was fun when you got a puff in the mirror smooth water though!
James Farley (12642km): Jimmy's Beach, NSW, AU Exocet Cross 94, Mauisails Ghost 6.1 - Wind SSE 10-15 kts Very short session just after arriving in Hawks Nest. Looked windy (sand blowing on the beach etc) but just one semi-powered run before it dropped and i did the walk of shame. Still good to get out and a lot better than being at work! |
