Keef, finally got a good go on your 17cm 55d delta. Knee deep water and there was plenty of floating weed growing up from the bottom, fin went straight through it. Wind was light to start with but was forecast to pick up, but tide also forecast to drop. Didn't want to leave it until the wind picked up in case we ran out of water. So went with the 5.0 on the 48cm board, was getting low 30s to start with, and fin was about ideal, rock solid and going upwind like a train. But as the wind picked up and I got into the mid to high 30s, the fin started to feel a bit big. Have you been following the seabreeze thread, where the delta designer says the tip should be pointed not squared off? I'm wondering if you've tried similar fins one with a squared off tip and the other a pointy tip and found any difference?

mike good to see you finally got to give it a go,  ill have to agree with you the 17 deg delta peaks out at about 35knts then you get a lot of back foot preasure and to much lift , it's time then to change too the other 18cm i sent you (the 18/47 deg ex  c3 21cm slingshot) even with that fin there is heaps of lift in the high 30's , so i have done a couple of those with a thinner foil and that sorts the problem  out

mudskipper didnt post what fin he was useing but it was the 18cm 47deg slingshot copy , i had a look at it and it had worn 5mm either side of the stainless with  some shell or some sort of crustation between the stainless and carbonLaughing and still got 33+ on his old falcon and 6/7 aerotech

with both of those fins the stainless is 3mm thick even at the thickest part of the foil at the tip so you can let it wear down to 5mm either side of the leading edge , after that you will need to keep packing with the steel kneed-it ,

Less wind tomorrow, so I'll try it with my 6.6, see if it's man enough to hold it.
