Melville Beach, WA, AU

Had a great few hours on the river. Only 3 out early on. Bit up and down but that was ok as it didnt allow it get too rough. Felt very comfy on the set up today. Hope others had a good one.

Melville - Isonic 101, CR 7.5, Drake 42.  Started off just floundering around, but the wind picked up so I thought I would try for the hour as per Captains order.  The plan was to sail up and down to Majestic point (as that should be 1 nm or so), and try to do that without falling off the gybe 20 times over.

Gybe 4, caught some weed and took my time getting back on.  Gybe 10, dropped the gybe and caught weed as well as my fin and feet finding a whole pile of rocks at the point - why didn't I every think there'd be big rocks at the rocky point?!

By Gybe 12, I was fatigued and just trying to keep going for as much as I could.

Was still a beaut day with some sun shining through, and a nice chat with Ricey and JJ.  Ricey has talked me into adjustable outhaul as the next challenge.

Light wind afternoon (10 to 15), great fun cruising around testing the Tribal weedys - really happy with them.

M137, GPS 8m, Tribal Weedy 41 and 43 (better in the light wind)

Well done on two PB's GS! The hour is always a good start to a distance session. A one hour is good for building stamina too. That hour is not too shabby either despite some stops. Great effort!

Well done and congrats on the PB's GS :-). Next time try to ignore any directives from your captain though, I don't want you setting any precedents that my captain might want to beat me around the head with!

A very nice but strange day out at Melville, started rigging in the rain but ended up with some nice sunshine. Forgot the gps, so no post from me. As this was directly against the captains most recent edict I thought I should do the honorable thing and throw myself onto a pointer or something but then realised that the bottoms of all my fins had been ground blunt so that wasn't a good option. I could have pretended I didn't get out but these things always come out.

Fang man we are a well disciplined crew, sort of like the Bounty. Keel hauling and cat o nine tails are regularly used to keep us in order.

Well done on the PB'S Shaw, I didn't introduce myself but we were talking about that batten in your sail.

Oh dear, Anita, I forgot my GT-31. Still, I had my old Garmin which I cannot download onto Mac, but I did just crack 20Knots, actually 20.8 and 7.5 nms.

I just went for a look after a couple of meetings, and the breeze was good so I rigged 98 Xfire, 7.5 Turbo and 34 weedy. By the time I rigged the wind had dropped but, hey, why not get wet? So I did; with some wallowing and some planing it turned out not too bad.

Talked to Shaw aboiut adjustable outhauls for speed runs, and JJ showed me his fin collection.

Well done Shaw on sticking to the 1 hour - a good result for the light and variable wind.

Oh dear, looks like I'll have to resume the whippings and beatings... Smile

Glad you got out and had a pleasant sail.
