Melville Beach, WA, AU

8.6 then 7.0 0verdrive, 125 Rocket, 40 the 36 Maui Magic slalom fin

A bit light and very gusty when I arrived, went out at about 11.30, only planing in the gusts. The wind did pick up but never realy filled in the gust just got stronger but the holes remained.

Good warm up for a SB trip tomorow

Fun early session at Dutchies. Started not planing but soon picked up to just enough.

Moved around chasing what little swell there was left.

Had a WTF moment as hordes of kiters came through on a downwinder, some in costumes.

Wind started to get a bit of a handfull after that on the 5.9 so called it a day.

Melville Beach, WA

Fun social afternoon. Only took one sail so underdone (gusty 10 - 18 knots), suffered in the lulls. The fin was sweet though Cool

Pelican Point, WA, FRide 155, 125 Turbo 7.5, 6.5.

Just couldn't get my groove on today. Couldn't sail upwind, couldn't rig my kit. Thanks to Steve S for some tips that helped me get it sorted by the end. Loads of peeps out.

Well the day was one of those days, that if a problem was going to surface with gear, it did and hopefully all done now for new season.

Fangland, and a new Delta 23 fin, this was the start of issues. Either the bottom of my Tabou board and fin-box are not set correct or the Delta front edge is a tad out. Lots of sanding, with eventually I see the rubber surface needs to come off at the rear to let the front sit down snug. So got it sorted kind of.Frown

Started to rig the Loft 8.6, as it was rather soft in the squashed air front out there. Some faffing about getting the cams on, but got there after a lot of naughty words were used to convince the sail to play the game.

Got on board eventually, first run, gee smooth and rather relaxing, at a steady 20 knots or so. Run from S bend right up back of bird hide. Turned and headed back pinching up wind. Went about to level of S bend, and sail felt ugly. Stopped, looked up,  3rd use of my Tushy 4.90 mast had broken down about a meter from the top. SurprisedYell

That’s two mast in this poxy sail. Long walk back as didn’t want to spear the luff tube.Money mouth

Dragged out the old free-ride Loft 02, 7.4. Srted rigging, cranking down and the top spigot not set right, and mast jumps out with a whack. Grrrrr grrrrrr mutter mutter Innocent

Get it all sorted, and headed back out. At long last relax, and cruise for a few runs when I notice one of the foot straps is loose. Then I check them all, Bugger me if all of them show some signs of movement. What a pain in the coit. I recall last season I promised to throw those crap Tabou foot straps off the narrows, and get a new set. FrownMoney mouth

Well sailing with only using the front straps wasn’t all that bad. In the end, I ran out of sailing time and had to call it a day.

Sailed, when I was on the water with Jamie from Mandurah Mobs. Good to run into fellow sailors down there, as Fangy not about today.

Day ended with a bang when I was sliding my trailer into its spot at home, was thinking I was a clever prick, got it moved in one go, just needed to push the drawbar across a tad.

Always remember, if one pushes on the drawbar, keep the pinkies out of line of fire on the drawbar spring loaded latch. One blackened nail for my troubles.SurprisedSurprisedYell

iSonic 121, KA 7.2, Melville, nice cruisy afternoon, not quite as many rests as the physios and wife told me I should but they dont read these posts. First water start for a while, realise that is a whole another angle on the knee, all good but its odd the things you take for granted Laughing

Big day out on the water. Today's mission was a Lao-Shi-inspired crack at the ocean 100 - in Warnbro Sound. Arrived at around 3 and put up the 7.0 and iso 90 thinking it might build and soon shot out the back for the big mission.

Wind was a pleasant 16-18 knots with the odd gust to around 20 so it was a case of never really being juiced on the 90, which was probably a good thing come to think of it. I can't imagine the last hour if the wind had booted in a few extra knots. Soon settled in and had a blast shooting all over the sound amazing how the time just flies by on a nice afternoon. Heaps of riding the swells and generally just blasting

Fatigue started around the 70km mark and a big fin surfacing about 20m ahead of me at 80km gave me the kick for the last 20k - only a Dolphin luckily!! Hit the 100 feeling pretty good....hmmm...maybe try the 3hr?? Yeah, do it. Laughing 34 minutes later and after a total of 122km, body well and truly wrecked.

Best 1Hr: 22.45

2Hr: 22

100km: 22.05

3Hr: 22.02

A sweet session after missing the KOC Cool Body still feeling it today though..

Not a top ten fangy day, Mineral? Sorry to hear of your woes.

I found my delta needed a fair bit of sanding to get it to seat properly in the fin box too. That G10 is really hard to sand and takes a lot of effort. Make sure your fin fits before leaving home!

You may need some footstrap screws of a slightly larger diameter. I changed mine recently and no more loose straps.

Windy, what screws did you get? Do they have a hex head or still the crappy star point phillips head?

I did slot fin into the board, but didnt notice the blasted thing was sitting proud at the front by about 0.5mm.Yell All looked good at the timeInnocent

Delta Fin worked a treat, no spin outs which was a plus. Have heard of some problems with users getting used to these. Must suit my gumby sailing style Laughing

Mineral, I am actually feeling a little squeamish about the misfortune you suffered in Fangyland today. I have been training Wazza and I must say I am proud of his completely disarming 'smiling assassin' technique. But I am stunned that he took it to such lengths on his first solo outing. Still, it looks as though he done good😄

Mineral, I think they were ones I got from Second Wind, but Windforce have them too. They do have the Phillips head. I agree a hex head would be better for grip.

Crikey Lunny, have you ever met Mineral? And more importantly, has he ever touched your kit ( what I mean by that, is your windsurfing kit ) I think that once you have sufferred at the hand of the Mineralselfdestructo curse you will not be so flippant.Laughing

Oh and Mineral, I was happy to read you went ok with the Delta - good stuff man Cool

An outstanding session Jake. One hour at 22 knots is great, ( and the best hour of the day in WA) but to keep going at that pace for three hours is absolutely amazing. You must have gone a lot longer than 3 hours to get 153 km, because 3 hours at 22.02 knots is only 122 km. You stole my hard earned distance jellybean, but you definitely deserve it, and I don't mind at all because you did enough to move us up the distance ladder 3 places as well.

No wonder you didn't post last night. No energy left.
