Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU

Fanatic Falcon 79, Maui TR9 6.6m MUF 19.

Calculated that the Southerly front would arrive late morning. So got down to Budgy around 10:30.  Spent 20 mins struggling up wind and then it arrived. One fantastic downwind run literally on the blustery front of the southerly. Then an hour or so of shifting southerly SW to S. As always could have done with another 5 kts.

Fun session, Sue also out. Later all the local boys arrived, where were they earlier?

Brightwaters Jetty, NSW, AU RS2 6.6TR9 v max 31

sailed just under 1 hr so happy with the hr.

great place windy to start with but i spent time going up wind to have some down wind blast but by the time I was upwind wind had backed off a bit so was never going to get high speeds, still nice quick sail before rushing off to work.

15_25kts s - sse  Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU. Andrew + I got there before it arrived.

Andrew chose small gear ready for a big blast while I figured (wrongly) it woukd be 15 -20kts.. Both rigged 6.6m me on 95ltre rocket. Came in and Andrew was flying and I was in survival mode luffing sail to go upwind etc.. He weighs 13kgs more than me but both on same size sails.

Very shallow in the flats so didn't try & gybe. Scraping the bottom alot.Worked up more for better depth and more flat but wind more SSE by now so no wind in flats (not enough).

Others turned  up as it died. Video to come when I get a chance..

Smokin Andrew you were lookin sweet out there. You to Tibor. Those dance moves with that Dragon song and vocals were golden. We had that duo nailed! Miller killed it with his fog horn voice, hehehe. Good to see you guys and gals....

Yes I am happy with the Falcon 79, I sailed it for the first time last week in that weak NE and couldn't get it over 30. First bear away today and a 36!

I now have a MUF 16 Delta Speed, so I am looking forward to a day with enough wind to use it.

I am also  improving my off the wind technicque with these Delta fins. I find they often spin out even when going deep off the wind at high speed. Whilst initially this is somewhat disconcerning, I am quickly learning how to ease the back foot pressure and get it locked in again.

You just gotta take more control of the feed down from sail to board, take more care to create a stance that allows that feed of power from sail to be transfered onto board

off the wind we arent finding much problem, unless really patchy and have over sheeted

having trouble getting around an overpowered corner from cross to off wind without letting go, and or, lossing the chance to acclerate hard

your doing sweet Andrew....................just keep listening to everything i say!!!!!...............well done Tibor, Bruce, Rus, Suzy

I had a 55 min real quick sail before work at Brightwaters Jetty shame for some reason GPS has not recorded. I had 34.4 knots a very good hr some great alphas but il never know. It was unreal to put the pedle down in chop with confidencce. heaps of wind to start bwith but backed off.

Video from today.

A pretty average day for Budgy. Not the best direction as the wind wasn't really getting into the flats and the best was over by the time I took this video but it gives you an idea of what it is like.
Considering the action is 500m away and I was hand holding the camera and buffeted by the wind the camera did a great job!

You can change the quality to better by going to the spoked settings wheel. It's HD.

It's a pity that angle is probably the only one where people are close enough to take video but it's one of the worst from a sailing perspective.. Now I've got to figure out how to get some of me sailing..Smile

Fangman how does it compare with your patches of smooth over there?
