Sandy Point, Vic, AU

Last day at Sandy Point was forcast for a 10 knot westerly but by mid morning a 20-25 knot W/N/W blew up.Went down to inlet for a look and 3 guys out on 5m sails, they were just sailing to the northend if the inlet and back ,not down the normal speed run.Decided I should have a go so back to Caravan Park to load up.Rigged the old 5m revo and 271 Seatrend ATV.Had a few runs and it was horrible 10-20+knots and lucky to get accross without dropping off the plane, then get hit by a gust.

Lucky for me Bocky from Mansfield(THANKS) showed me the channel up to the  N/E  and had a great time running next to the weed bank in unreal smooth water. Was a sqaure run and had to stay in close or it chopped up so not as fast as I thought but still had a great time ,the old Seatrend was just sitting up on the fin and nicely ballanced but a bit flighty at times in the gusts. The wind was SO much more consistant compared to the the 'bay' area.

Anyway time to start packing up ready for moving on tomorrow to Wigan Inlet in the Croajingolong National Park near Mallacoota.

Hopfully we can get some paddle boarding in and not get blown away ,just for somthing different.

See you all later

Ian and Jo.

Coal Point, NSW, AU

CA70 and TR8 7.6m. 12-15kt NE

Fully relaxed arm chair sailing with the feet up! Just enough wind to comfortably plane and cruise around. Sailed up towards Belmont and then cruised home.

10-15kts E - ENE Coal Point, NSW, AU- 115 Excocet Xcross - 7.5m Severne OD + 38cms weedie

Nicest sail I've had for a while. Dismal speeds but didn't expect anything great. Heaps strips of floating weed but no worries with a weedie. Only Andrew & I out. Nice to sail with someone else for once even if it was only for a short time. I was going to follow him up into Belmont Bay but I was too tired and decided to reach off towards Bolton. Some lovely runs.

Kicked in a bit for 10mins and thought of going in to get smaller gear but it had died by the time I got back past Coal.Lovely doing nice long runs with a decent fin to push against and watching the wake of the board flying out behind..

Have to do it more often.Even though it's slow that board makes conditions like that fun.

More PBs Ian. Well done mate. It will be interesting to see if you can repeat some of them on the lake now that you know how it feels.

Stay safe Geoff.
