Pip (Old codger) (3243km): Mallacoota, VIC, AU Big Bertha (204), 6.5 V8, 48 Nice to get back on the water again with Supernan. She was looking good on both my big bertha and, later her small board when the wind picked up. Me thinks she may have a big smile on her face when she posts her results. Sailed in the channel dodging the Sydney/Hobart fleet. Simon and Gary playing on the Goodwin Sands strip. Fun sail.
supernan (3184km): Mallacoota, VIC, AU TA DAH.Nice sail with the Old Codger. Used a mixture of boards and sails.

Chinaman (2860km): Mallacoota, VIC, AU the wind was like it was at a rave party today!!!!! Off its head didn't know where it was or what it was doing, swinging all over the shop. Think the old mate must have bribed ka72?????? only ever seen him sink on his board waist deep hahaa. Loving the is97 2015 can uphaul in no wind easily, good test today. Dont think that I need bigger volume than this. IS97 Koncept 6.2 & tribal weedy 27 in F all wind
Sailquik (29582km): I was wondering how to take advantage of the wery westerly wind forecast for today when Peter and Ado called me last night and asked if I thought SandyB would any good! What a great idea! A plan was hatched and an adventure started! I got up early and cleaned out the boat, checked the engine ran and fueled it up! Choice of gear was easy. Speed board, 5m sail and Tribal assy 18cm. The KISS, all or nothing approach! The boys duly arrived at 11am and we headed to the inlet to find the tide had dropped enough to get in and the wind was very definitely way too westerly for the normal speed bank. We loaded up the boat and headed out. A qiuick stop on the end of the spit and we found the wind was about 22-25 knots, with one very brief gust to 30-34. Angle looked pretty good but maybe just a touch tight. The tide was rushing out and looked to be moving at 3-4 knots! We rigged up in the lee of the last large dune whilst getting a sand shower. Fun times! First runs confirmed that the wind was not that strong, despite all the moving sand, and that the run was a bit too tight. Ado could sail straight back up the run with his M47, 5.0m KA Koncept and symmetrical 21 Tribal speed fin. Peter could with his KS assy 20cm but I was struggling with my 18 Tribal assy. My strategy quickly became walk 1/3rd of the way to get a slightly better angle and then pinch like crazy. We were struggling to get enough power to bear away, but in a few gusts at the end of the run I got a couple just from good luck and managed to finally get a 40 knots peak. Then 41.9 a couple of runs later. The wind seemed to lick up slightly making it a bit easier to get back up the course, but speeds were not improving and we were back in the mid 30's so we pulled it. I think it was because as the tide dropped the bank got a lot higher and shadowed the wind close to the edge. We had had great fun so we packed up and battled back upwind in the boat! Peter still had some muffins left which were very welcome! Maps: Quite a good adventure.
Peter Johnston (8869km): Fun day exploring Sandy Point B with Daffy and Ado. No gybes. A bit underpowered. The wind looked stronger than it felt - ie lots of sand blowing off the dunes and very windy looking water further out. So perhaps as Daffy says there was some wind shadow from the highish dunes.
