Point Walter, WWE

Quick sail - on the water at 8am, nice 15 to 18 knots for about 30 minutes. It was probably better 7am to 8am.

So choppy owing to all the craft that it felt a bit like sailing at Leighton.

Happy to get a last sail in on the M112 - awesome board, would loved to have kept it but need to consolidate. I'm sure Jeff will rip on it.

Good to see a few out on the water and a few more on land doing rigging practice Laughing

Mistral 112, KA Koncept 7, CL SL1 34

Point Walter, nice morning sail with a few others. 7.3 KA and iSonic 121, looked pretty good but died off suddenly. Enjoyable "putt" around. Managed to prise the Mistral from JJ's hands. Didnt get to try it as the wind had pretty much gone by then.

Morning session at WWE. Good to catch up with Lunny and Hardpole.

Best wind was when I was rigging at about 7am. 2nd session on the Loft Switchblade 6.8.

Set up felt comfortable (sailing one handed comfortably) after a bit of additional batten tension. Rotation requires a bit more of a positive pump but gives the sail a bit more shape.

Had about 30 mins where it had me thinking about an Hr but then it faded. About half the hour heading upwind.

Pleased with the ability to tack with this set up 6.8 / 91 and happy that this is the right size choice for WA conditions.

Mistral SL 91 worked well with the Falcon 36 in pretty light wind 15-21knts

Had intended to try a Tushingham 430 rdm but only got to rig it. 2012 100% which is rated softer in the top than Loft.

Pictures show a bit more looseness in the head for the same downhaul compared to Powerex 85% (left).

Pelican Point, WA, Formula 161, 9.6m

Optimistic sail with a few planing runs.

Saw heaps of Pinaroos and even some Melville crew. The chats were far more interesting than the sailing.

Pelican Point, WA, AU

I waited until today because I thought the wind would be better than yesterday. Seems like a lot of people thought the same.

Patrick was just rigging his big gear as I left. Shaw was practising low wind moves, and Chris seemed to be going well considering the lack of wind.

I got planing maybe three times, then also practiced low wind gybes, a few tacks and a couple of necessary low wind water starts.

Xfire 114, Turbo 7.5 and 40 weedy.

Albany, WA, AU

90 Xfire/Lorch, 19cm Delta, 6.0 overdrive.

Started off with XFire 90 and 6.0 set up same as the day before trying to improve my 2 weakest catagories, 1 hour and distance.

It was pretty good for the first 1.5 hours, then the wind started to increase untill I was really stacked and starting to struggle especially as I was still a little bit tired from the day before, pity because it was pretty cruisey up until then and probably could have done a few more K's if the wind wasn't so strong.

I was really pleased with my 1 hour on both days considering there where so many gybes in them (30+), need to have another go somewhere with longer reaches to cut down the amount of gybes next time.

Changed to the Lorch and added a bit more downhaul to the 6.0 for the last hour, and tried some Nm runs.

It was quite gusty down the run and hard to be fully powered all the way down but so so flat. I was a bit too tired by now to do it justice but I had a great time, so called it a day and started the long drive back.

Pelican Point - IS101, CR7.5, Drake 42.  Morning session - not quite enough wind so ended up doing low wind gybes.  Went back in the late afternoon thinking the wind had come in.  Had 1 decent run out and back, then it died out again.

JJ, you've sold your 112? Didn't you use that more than the 91?

Rest day for me today - you should see the bruises after my helitack session yesterday-my right forearm is purple! I sent my emissary (Leon) down to Peli to keep an eye on you all though.
