3354 days ago Another top day at the Muddy Lake! Wind around 25 knots with gusts pushing 30. Wind was SSW at the start but went close to SSE by the end. I just circled around at %mile trying to get a good 5-by and it payed off. A new Port tack 5X10 PB!
At the end I saw Izzak tear off at ballistic speed straight down the guts of the lake. I was half expecting to see a glorious crash but he made it, so I thought I would give it a try for a NM. It was OK for the first few hundered meters and then it got really rough. The fin and bosrd felt fine despite the hammering so I kept going. It was nice to get into the flat water near Cockies and saw a 3 knot jump in speed as soon as I got in the flat. It was a struggle to stay broad enough to avoid running aground and I started to lose ithe wind at the end. Luckily, I just make the NM distance. Very happy with that. Thanks Izzak for the inspiration!
It was great to see all the excitement and smiles today. There was a great vibe around amongst a lot of great people. That is what really made the day for me!
