Left Brisbane at 7.30am and arrived at Burrum Heads at 11.30. Rang Andy who advised he was sailing Urangan. Rigged the big gear and hitnthe water at 12.45. There was a lot of east in the wind so headed over to the northern run. Wind 12 to 14 kts and very square. Planing 80% of the time. Sailed for an hour and the wind eased andthe bank was going under, so I headed back. By the time I got back the wind had picked up and shifted to the SE. I tacked up to the 6th beacon. The bank was still out and the wind direction was very good on port tack between the 5th and 3rd markers. Thts where I did my best speed, alpha and NM. The wind was now 13 to 15 kts and I was planning all the time. The bank started going under about an hour later so headed back in. The run between the 3rd and 1st markers was too broad so I took my time on a slalom downwinder. No one else out except the dugongs (2 of them). All in all a very pleasant sail. Hopefully more wind tomorrow.
