Sandy Point. Easterly 28-32knots with Daffy and Rupert.

KA Koncept 5.0. Mistral Speed 41. Tribal Assy 18.

Pushing things to the limit today between the sand bars. We squeezed out 7-8 runs before the tide dropped out too far and made running the gauntlet outright dangerous.

Amazed at the speeds, but they were only possible by running into the choppy channel with balls sucked tightly in.

Cool

One of the strongest easterlies I have seen for years. Solid 28-30. I stopped when the tide got dangerously low for the speed course, went home to fix a broken top batten, and when I came back and started to re-rig my 2016 5.0m Koncept Ado said "you got to be crazy! It's at least 5 knots sronger now and manybe more in the gusts! "

So I rigged the brand new 4.6m Koncept and went out. I was pretty much out of control. I tried the speed course but it was too choppy at the start with the tide coming in and I spun out on entry both time and chickened out. After being flogged for about half and hour I gave up.

I recon the wind was gusting 40 easy by then. I can't remember when we have had an easterly like that in the last 7 or 8 years! If this El-Nino is the reason, we could be in for some more big ones all summer! Tongue out

44.69 Peak speed is definitly a PB for me on an Easterly.

As usual we had the thread the needle between a few dangerously shallow small sandbars and it got too dangerous close to the low tide. I was one run short of a much better 5x10 so room for improvement left there! I need to get out there with a shovel and do some gardening on the next super low tide!

CA 40, Tribal 18 assy, 2016 KA Koncept 5.0m.

It was a sensational Nauty from Ado up the Yannakie channel! Has to be a spot record for an Easterly NM.Cool

He also had bigger berries than me today going further out into the chop than I was willing to risk! Embarassed

Just realised that was my second fastest 5 x 10 and fourth fastest NM - and on the easterly bank! The NM was done on the Mistral 47/Tribal 21 symmy combo on port tack.

The peak speed on the NM was 38.8. There's the track above. Thanks Daffy.

Come to think of it. That's also the first time I've got the Mistral/Locky SP41 fully lit.

What a board! I get a real sense of confidence riding it - even into chop at insane speed. Wonderful job Chris.

Now dreaming of 35-40 knots on the main run...with a Tribal 16..............Smile

Terrific sailing, pity you couldn't get more than 8 or so runs. I just watched Daffy's video of Ado, boy there is a lot of water movement in the inlet

Yeah Dan I think the last 500 m would have been at least 135 degrees. Maybe more. Felt deep, lumpy and overpowered. By the end of the run the wind would have been 35 knots. I reckon if I stuck the 21 Tribal on my SP41 instead of the SP47 and ran a bloated 5.0 I cold bump that to 35+ NM.

Really what I need is an 18 Assy port tack Tribal just for an easterly! Then I'd be cooking.

Mmmm Let's see. Next Wednesday? Cool
