Novara, Tabou Manta 59, TR-9 6.3m, Delta 22.  Practising Alpha's, I need to lift my game as all my major rivals are catching meEmbarassed.  I havent been able to sleep since Cam joined the 26kts alpha club.  Elmo has just missed a 27kt Alpha in Albany which is causing me nightmares.  Sammy just has to get his act tgether and he's a 27kt alphaman.  Pepe is improving his alpha PB all the time.  Decrep is on absolute fire atm.  My reign as king amongst my closest peers is tentative at best if I don't do something about it very soonCry

finally a good seabreeze at the local.

had to use a crap fin due to committing my favorite choco to the deep the other week.

prick of a thing kept going sideways as soon as it had attained a half decent speed.

need to get me one of them tribals i think or another choco.

best speed was on noels gear.

used a m137 with a s##t 40 weedy. and a 7.8 severne overdrive 5 proto.

and noels iso 107 and a 36 tribal weedy with a 7.8 severne overdrive 6.

Guess when I got down the run?

That said, top Muppet day, sailing inconsistent dropping breeze ofset by fantastic day out with my chickybabe at the movies then lunch then shopping on the way home.

Plenty of wind at Novara on the way home.

Caught up with Hardz as he was packing up ,great to see him out and about with a smile on his face getting his Alpha Mojo back again.

Was going to rig the 7.8 which with the benefit of hind site would have been a far wiser option.

Still nice doing runs out to platform getting some lumpy goodness.

Using a new spreader bar which has a swinging hook, me likum muchly, takes a bit of load of the back in ther bumps and the hook shape is better.

Hopefully I'll be out earlier tomorrow when wind is blowing a bit better.

Waihau X, NP Excess 6.3, MUF Delta 20

Most unsatisfactory afternoon as I was nowhere near the zone   ... or if I was, it would have been a "Tow Away Zone". I left the F2 Vento at home following a TIA and only had the WaiHau. Too much sink due to too much flab and not enough sail or skill. My rigging was s**thouse and I got fed up having to adjust everything on the water. Made worse by seeing The Capt'n and Fangy sailing gracefully and with mucho skill. Went home, gave myself a damn good talking-to and will return tomorrow with a more positive frame of mind. I'm sure that, and hope that, everyone else had a good session on some great water.

Not a lot of wind when I hit the water, cruised around till I saw the old fella in the distance so I headed over to chase him around and chase I did cos he was on a corner mission and too slippery on the straight aways. Made my day cos I realised I have another 10 years before I peak. With my ego shot I went looking for the big strop, yay he's beached bro, too big on too small don't go mate, no PB's today but nearly as good sailing past him with my finger in the air. Yeh I'm not that stupid not to realise he'll go over me like a freight train when the winds up. Never saw you Franga, I did see a couple of lunch boxes maybe one was you. I'm enjoying sailing with these guys and gals, lots of laughs, nothing too serious but then that might change when the winds up and it's sheep stations Laughing

At my local SBay..

Was not going to sail, but it looked alright.. but it wasnt really! puffy breeze with too much W in it, making the water messy. never powered, 6.2 or 6.7 wld have be the size. Better that not sailing i suppose ;)

The hightlight of the day was to meet and do couple laps wiz Duffy from around the corner, and catch up with PD which I havent seen for ages Wink

Fangy's with a mob of sailors and a dying breeze. Fun times practicing Uturns.

Post more later :-)

I made a mistake with my sail size today and so was under done for the most part. I threw up the Koncept 6.6 and nailed the Delta 18 onto the  Vintage Missy and chucked that lot into the soup for a session that was good to start with but got asthmatic toward the end.

I worked up to the top weed bank and tried to improve my Uturns. I knocked out a heap of plus twenty knot efforts but could not really slay one. Still, it was fun trying. However Captain Calm showed me how it was done and served up a big helping of alpha man soup.

The smoke haze increased and the breeze slowly faded. This was a worry. In fact at one point I thought I was going to be Elmo’d and be walking home through the crabs again. I had one big run back and made it just.  No walking and lovin the old girl,Top Ten Fangy Day.

more after I've eaten, but just a quick one to Hardie. You're sailing in the wrong spot mate, Novus Alpha Terra is the place to go.

200m dead flat water, my 25 above is a doppler PB for me and it was easy!

At 1400, anenometer said 17kts average, 20kt gusts, decided there was still abit more to come, so hopefull wacked the 5.8 on the 48, and instead of plugging in the 18cm 50deg, went for the larger 20cm 55deg fin, the theory being, if I was underdone the bigger fin would help. And anyway I'd been meaning to try this fin in the 48 for a while.

Worked great, I was getting plenty of lift, could really get the windward rail up and just sit the back of the board on the water, but the advantage was only up and across the wind, down wind I didn't have enough sail. So I decided to practise alphas, I'd always thought a slightly smaller sail and bigger fin would work better across the wind, but never really tried, I normally rig for downwind speed.

Saw Fangys sending up some very impressive rooster tails, just of the upper part of Creery Island, so worked my way up to him, doing alphas all the way there.

Today I was more succesfull with Strops method of going downwind first to build speed then carring that a bit upwind for 200+ meters (count to 20) before gybing, and heading slightly downwind. Think I had the best of the wind while doing it, by the time saltynuts and Firie turned up it had started to drop

Novus Alpha Terra

And here's the Pixie's take on todays numbers.

2s 32.151, 5x10 30.816, 1hr 18.881, @ 25.421, NM 25 26.661, distance 56.5061

Not a huge difference here but the number two 2s on the Pixie, a 31.8 is only a 30.5 in the GW52, and there doesn't look to be anything wrong with it.

Ran the GW52 file through KA72 to check it's alpha, and this time it's spot on

Just saw your post mike. Fantastic alpha, well done. Could you zero or reduce the trackpoint alpha so this one shows what it really is, a great pb!
