Terrigal, NSW, AU

Days like these you wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Yesterday a small southerly at Umina, today a short but so sweet NE at Terrigal. Water warm, sunny, not too hot, not too cold, being alive is acceptable. Slow speed but 24 in the ocean feels like 34 at Peelie. Seabreeze for Peelie looked dodgy but it seemed it might come in here & it did, maybe 14-15 knots which is easy cruising.

CASL70, 7.7 with 1mm extra d/haul that felt good, humungous weedy.

12-19kts ENE Coal Point, NSW, AU - 89ltre falcon + 7m OD + 30cm weedie then 115xcross + 7m OD 30cm weedie

unexpected decent ENE! Tongue outPity I had to sell the 95 rocket as it would have been ideal today.

zzzzzzzzzzz..I knew the 89 falcon would be a handful in the chop. Forecast was for about 10kts so I didn't take  my 79ltre falcon Undecided . I would have been a lot comfier on that. I was a bit worried about taking the 89 out and it was hard work.I was stuffed after 2 tacks so came into the point for a rest. I just couldn't get comfortable or get the harness lines in the right place and couldn't sink the leeward rail or get my technique going upwind- getting bashed around in the chop didn't help..Frown

Dropped the 7m in and had a heck of a time waterstarting. The cams were popped the wrong way and by the time I got the strength to get it up into the wind and pop them and get going I was totally stuffed..after that I was cautious as I didn't want to drop it in again.Didn't really do much in the way of bearaways on the faster board in case I muffed a gybe in the patchy wind near Swansea and couldn't get going.Got 26 + on the falcon but surprisingly got the 2 sec etc on the big board.

Came in and went back out on the 115- board was miles too big but so much easier to sail in the chop + I knew I could uphaul so I went up towards Toronto( too many holes) and did a bearaway at the islands. It was still out in med chop and for the first time the big board threatened to bury itself going down the backs of the waves..scary Surprised.

Felt much more confident and more fun with the freemove. When I get rich I might trade it for 90 ltre patrick that should be easier in the chop.

Hugh & Greg were still out out chasing each other after I left. Andrew had come in earlier. One young guy also out.

Sounds like a great session Bruce. Love Terrigal... best fish and chips at the South end and the break off the rocks isn't too bad either :)

Think I didn,t have enough downhaul on today ( less than specs) which is probably why the sail wasn,t rotating easily like it usually does and maybe why I couldn,t get comfortable?? although I felt ok on the freemove..

Hey Sue. Do you wear a boyancy vest when you sail places like Coalie? Would help heaps with waterstarting.

Yep..always.If the cams were popped the right way that would have helped a fair bit..They were so stiff I couldn't even pop them with my hand .

Good stuff everyone, nice 1 Hr's Andrew and Greg.     We just need a couple more knots to put us back at the top of the rankings and shake those Moreton Bay Mob guys :)   Great to see the nor-easters back!

James,

I know I was slow but surprised when we were in 1st place before I posted but 2nd after. Was I that slow? Anywy,I think we are still first as O Spot has somehow collected about 27 other teams results from 10 Feb. I sent a message on the contact form to dob them in. Spicy foreigners must have a better computer guru than we do. Why didn't you think of that trick James?

Good job James, now we have 27 results from 19 Feb, Well done. Hang on, so does Moreton Bay. My sensitive nose detects a  wardrobe malfunction here.

Nigel,

Interesting about the fish & chips, I may have to try that joint. traditionally everyone says the Snapper Spot at the North end is the best for f & c but if you really want dining excellence for not much dough try the little Thai noodle bar just round the corner in Kurrawyba St. But don't tell anyone, best kept quiet lest it get too crowded.
