Albany, WA, AU harding rd . jp 121 , 101 , np evo 5 7.8 , delta 24 . After two days of wind watching and tide checking and gathering enough brownie points to see me into the next decade, Hughie finally delivered. Fair bit of time fluffing around with the sail tuning, I started with the big board. Sail still not playing the game so came back in and changed board and more batten tension on the sail. Steve and Morts came back in for some light refreshments and then back on the water for another blast. had a few more runs before retiring for the day. Great day on the water with Steve and Morts. Smile

Fun arvo with Morts and Shane. Congrats to Shane for the distance pb, you were very persistent while you tuned the sail.

Wind was reasonably consistent all arvo, never very strong. I also had a 20 and 2 19 knot hours showing the wind was steady. Sailed 3 hours straight, had a break with Shane and Morts then sailed another 2.75 hours. Hoped to get a top 5 but the wind did not deliver to give me enough speed.

It has been a while since I did distance, might be a while before I do it again!

Morts was out there going for distance, I look foward to seeing how he did.

After taking an extra day off work I was beginning to think I'd totally Elmo'd the wind. Happily it started to fill in as I was rigging & then stayed in for the rest of the afternoon, not super windy but enough to get going. Tide did get a bit low in the afternoon though.

Should have Shane & Steve arrive, it was like watching jets stop on an aircraft carrier, anyone would think they hadn't sailed for a while.

Steve suggested that it may be worth trying to chase a 20kn hour & to go for some distance. Missed the hour by that much but distance was ok, not a patch on Steve's. Wasn't sure if he was trying to windsurf to work or waiting for the tide to come back in so his boots wouldn't get dirty on the walk up the beach.

Had a bit of a play with the mast track to see if I could lessen the fin break outs. Somehow managed to make it worse after one of the breaks, the one where I didn't actually change a thing! After that I moved it slightly forward of where I usually have it & it seemed a bit better.

Very enjoyable way to spend an afternoon with Steve & Shane.

Cheers

Morts

I think you were wise to stop Shane, you did not look comfortable and the sailing has to be fun, well done on the pb, I know you will soon crack 100, probably on kit you are realy comfortable sailing.

Fantastic work there Morts. Well done on 2 pbs. The wind was not there for the hour. That is a great distance for your third post. The trouble is the higher your pbs the harder to beat them:-)

Great to sail with you and shane today. Hope we get more easterlies this year.

Mike it is early in the month but that should be a reasonable distance...... Famous last words! As we have often said distance needs the right conditions so it is wise to bank a distance when huey plays the game.

It is great now there are three of us here to post using Albany conditions . I see good numbers to come from the south west contingent as well as sout east. While i was sailing i wondered if PJ was out too!

Cheers guys.

Likewise to you Shane, good effort considering you had to do fair bit of playing around with your set-up.

Wow nice work fellas. Congrats on some tidy PBs Morts and Shane. 👍 Great distance work Evets that's really impressive, especially off the back of a light summer. The only bad news I can see there is that Shane your brownie points have expired now....

Great work on the big distance guys, especially Morts! Impressive for a newby. With Evets the veteran distance man as coach you guys could have the distance missions sewn up. Decrepit might be able to go back to just having fun!

The Mandurah Mob definitely have the advantage now, with your geographic spread.

Yeh I know Steve, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed Cry Jokes aside the boys did say it would happen but I've been caught before, it was time to bolt, things to do, places to go, so little time Wink
