Nina (9918km): Salvo Day Use Area. Falcon 89, Koncept 5.0, BPWS 28. Great afternoon sail with Peter, Dean, and Bart.
Peter (48462km): Morning session in Frisco and afternoon at Salvo Day Use. Nina did not use a GPS in Frisco, otherwise she'd have a top-4 entry in all categories today. Frisco was nice, but sailing the really flat spots were too shallow. Salvo was nice, a bit windier and choppier than yesterday. Tried to sail with safety glasses for UV protection and a helmet, which was a bad combo, since I spent a lot of time in the water. Afterwards, water would drip from the helmet onto the glasses forever. Had to go in and get rid of the helmet, and switched to freeride gear while there. I just could not get comfortable on the slalom gear today, the 3S/5.5 Matrix was way easier to sail. Went downwind a mile to check out a bay for flat water - flat it was, but also way too shallow. Bummer. Got beaten in 3 categories by my darling wife, who's on fire (got her first Duck Tack in the straps yesterday - Switch Konos are close!). Probably something I have to get used to. Was fun to be out with 3 others from the team today. More to come tomorrow!

Dean Withrow (5614km): First speed session in Cape Hatteras. Peter and Nina scoped out a spot in Salvo, NC.... (shallow, but not too shallow). Nina was killing it and broke 30 knots. Bart joined us for a little evening sail on Palico Sound. Tabou Manta
Bart Kornas (5192km): Rodanthe, NC, US First session of the year! Very windy, however, high expectations for the new fin/sail combo were not met . The gear was only (sort of) working on downwind. Couldn't do any reach tacks, and forget about going anywhere upwind. More testing to do tomorrow. Board - iSonic 94 Sail - MS TR8 5.1 Fin - Vector DSW 25
PS. Nina was killing it today!!
Marc (2761km): Bonaire Lac Bay |
