Decrepit (54500km): Cobblers with Elmo, 'ken, fangy and wazza. Not a whole heap of wind so went for the hour, rigged big, 65cm board with 29cm 45d weedy and koncept 6.6, still a bit underpowered most of the time, with the occasional gust getting things going nicely. A bit choppier than I like, to call it a real fun session, took me 1/2hr to get a gybe in, not sure if it's because I'm out of practise in the chop, or something to do with the cutout mod I've performed on the tail.
WazzaYotty (2200km): Olive Reserve, WA, AU F@ Vento 115, Challenger 7.8, 32 weedy Bit of a major fizzer today. After a call to The Capt'n, Cobblers was the pre-arranged venue and this news was passed on to Fangy's relatives who informed me that he might well pass away with a nasty case of Acute Corkitis ( recently renamed as "Stelvin Syndrome" I understand) after a particularly bad night. Feeling sorry for him I decided to check out his local launch at Nairns but was greeted by 'ken and Fangy already on their way back with a diagnosis of " off-shore and weak". Off to Cobblers where Elmo and The Capt'n where ready to go. I rigged a 7.8 but the wind was starting to weaken....a situation that only got worse. Lots of holes, sore back and dread of getting stuck out wide saw me head home with heavy heart. Elmo did an hour and returned with The Capt'n and 'ken staying out until things got too light whereas Fangy decided to walk off his late night instead. My GT31 suggested I had a max 30 knots which I thought was generous but downloading into KA72 tells the true tale. Maybe another day.
fangy (22667km): There is a lot of needless suffering in the world. This is even more distressing when it is me doing the suffering. The trouble began last night when I assembled a crack team of cork removers. I was dismayed to find they were rubbish. We made many attempts to remove corks intact and failed every time. Kudos is due however, for we did not give up easily. We practised removing corks for most of the night and a little bit of the morning too. So when Cap’n Calm fired up his morse code mobile at sparrows I wasn't in the most motivated frame of mind. Wazzawaketooearly also joined in the fun and pretended to care where I was sailing. Mainly out of spite I hauled a very weary carcass out to join them at Cobblers. In a fit of poor decision making crossed with optimism I packed one board and one sail. The optimism faded somewhat when I got to Cobblers and found Elmo and his trailer were already there. Knowing that Huey always goes to sleep in Elmo’s presence I thought I would do the same. So I lay down on the sweet green grass for a Nanna nap. But the sound of Wazzaespresso and ‘Ken being all enthusiastic about the morning meant I didn't sleep well. Oddly, Huey hadn't gone to sleep either. That was too much to ignore. I rigged my one board and sail and casually sauntered into the water. And that is pretty much all I did. Occasionally I moved by sauntering through the water to another spot. I did try the sailing thing, but Huey and my board were as disinterested as election campaign truth detector. So then I sauntered ashore. This took quite some time as I had done a bit more sauntering than I expected. Luckily Elmo was there to provide encouragement and some happy snaps…
Not even close to a Top Ten Day. Now I am off to lie down on another patch of grass.
Elmo (31413km): Tabou Rocket Wide 128L NP RSR E6 7.8m Elmo SS 45cm Got the call from El Captitano this morning and feeling slightly less ordinary than normal I answered the call, down at Cobblers it looked ok the word was an hour another word sprung to mind which was "optimistic" still rigged and went and had a go. There were quite a few holes out there and some nice bullets which you could get a bit of a squirt on, only hit a couple of them most of the session was just grinding. Unfortunately after the last few months my fitness level is in the negative consequently after 1/2 an hour it was a struggle to hang onto the boom with 15 mins to go I droped a gybe and serriously struggled to water start, the final 15mins could finish quick enough. Got back to base to see a couple of ;lost team members a long way from home with Wazza and Franga on the shore all fired up and ready to throw, well Fangy was as he appeared to be suffering from Red bottle fever or was that Bottle of Red fever? Now Mr Fang regularly casts aspersions at our valiant leader who today was quite happily flying around much to the annoyance of us younger(?) fellows, today no sooner did Frangamudslinga's foot touch his board everyone and I MEAN EVERYONE's sail suddenly went upright as they came of the plane after the initial shock everyone managed to get going. Except those doing the Walk Bloody best winter sail in a long time, gonna feel it for the rest of the week but it was a very enjoyable sail

Oaf (7363km): Olive Reserve, WA, AU Call from the captain to try for an hour. Struggled in the holey wind and came off the plane a lot. My fitness is right down and I only just managed to stay out for the hour. Still, all in all, what a fun sail. It was sunny and windy and I've been so deprived lately that I really enjoyed myself.
