A case of too much wind... I know, really...
So Tim says he doesn't want to sail until it's 15 knots and 15 degrees. A week in Bali has made him soft. I figure that gives me about an hour to get some jobs done. So given that it's a lovely sunny day, and tomorrow won't be, I throw in some washing, and get ready to put the final coat of varnish on the underside of a shelf I started varnishing yesterday. I get outside, shake the varnish, and take the lid off. The lid is really goopy and drippy and so I put the lid on a plastic bag on the roof of the shed. Then I realise I do not have my painting shirt on, and experience tells me that if you are going to get paint on yourself it will be on the one occasion you are not wearing your painting shirt. So, I put my tin of varnish on the plastic bag on the roof of the shed with the drippy lid, and I go inside to put my painting shirt on. When I return outside, the plastic bag is nowhere to be seen, and the tin of varnish is on its side wth the contents nicely pooled on the roof of the shed. I really do want to finish the shelf with the same varnish as the other 5 sides so I get a scoop to salvage as much of the varnish as possible, at the same time trying to leave behind the dirt and moss that was also in the gutter of the shed. Then I have to clean up the rest of the goopy mess and hang out the washing before I go sailing. Of course the wind used up most of it's energy blowing over my can of varnish and by the time I get down to the river the wind is dying off. I manage half an hour of planing before it drops to slogging only pace. I decide to call it a day and get the shopping done so I can sail tomorrow.
So, the clothes are washed and dry, the shopping is done, the moss on the shed is nicely varnished. That has to guarantee no wind for tomorrow, doesn't it?
