Lunny (42007km): Melville Beach, WA, AU We waited and waited, went out on the big gear, very gusty then some wind finally showed up with some good bullets coming through. Nice flat water in the shallows but somewhat teeth gritting here and there worrying about hitting planet earth. Ken and Anita seemed to be planing around niceley in the light wind. While packing up a 30+knot gust came through which was perfect timing to see a certain speed genius get the best from it, cant wait to see the results. Was a rather fine session in the end. Flatchat (9962km): Melville Beach, WA, AU A good fun blast, once the wind eventually showed up, but well worth the wait. Quite a handfull for the 7m in some of the bigger gust but took the lazy option and perservered. Some scary runs over the shallows but luckily had two speedsters(Lunny and slowie) infront of me clearing a small groove through the sandbar. Kenny (16394km): Melville Beach, WA, AU Rocked up expecting a storm and was barely 15 knots. Rigged up the biggest sail I had which was a 6.6. was underpowered a lot of the time then the storm came and was overpowered. Rigged up wave sail and board. Probably wont do that again unless on the coast. Not the best day sailing but always good to sail with the team. 6.6 Koncept, Isonic 97, 32 flying objects weed fin 4.7 NP Zone, Evil twin board, 16cm twin fins | ||||||||||||||||||
Windxtasy (13853km): Melville Beach, WA, AU is111, 7.5T4, 40 LE weedy The prefrontal wind was late arriving so I rigged big and had a quiet mostly-planing session with Ken. Most of the heavier people decided it was too light to bother. I am recovering from illness and just as I was thinking I had about had enough and would call it a day, the wind picked up a bit, so of course I wanted to do a couple more runs. Unfortunately the couple of runs had me out on the sand bar when the wind went into overdrive (20 -25 knots) and me still on the big gear. I made a couple of runs but was getting further upwind each time because that no cam sail does not go downwind well, and I was somewhat overpowered. I was tiring fast, and given my position directly upwind from the carpark I took the easy road and sat on the board while the wind did all the work and blew me back in. Then I sat back and watched the entertainment as the experts came out to play. There were some smashing speed runs over the shallows, and a few spectacular crashes. Craig was tailing Slowie and Tim soon worked out the best line to take for the fastest runs too. Craig came in just in time to watch Slowie do that last very fast run just on dark. Doh! Kilometer Ken who was first out this afternoon and last off the water aside from Slowie was still out racking up distance when I left. Thanks to Tim and Craig for hanging around long enough to get the best of the wind. It was good to catch up with you all. Kudos to Ken for just keeping on going, and for at least one lovely planing gybe (I am envious). Congratulations on the distance PB. We are not surprised. We could have a new energiser bunny. |
