2764 days ago Duxbury Bay, MA. XFire 90, GPS 6.6, BP S 35. Meter readings looked steady with averages around 25, but it did not feel that steady at all, especially close to shore on the far side. But get away a bit from the shore, and you have to deal with short steep chop - not difficult, but sure made for a harsh and somewhat slower ride. Tried to go for a nautical mile, and wind direction and top speed were ok, but the holes in the wind were so big that I almost stopped planing a couple of times in the best attempt. Wanted to try the GPS sail again after it had just been lying around for a couple of years. It worked well with the KA skinny mast, especially after I went to negative outhaul. The sail sure does not like being underpowered, and felt like it wanted a few more knots of wind. I never got the board trim quite right, either - had to move the boom very high to get some pressure on the front foot, then the clew dragged too much (and I did not care for the boom being a few inches above eye level).
For a Duxbury session, this one was not great. But overall, it was not bad, either.
