Paradise Beach, NSW, AU quick arvo sail with some pretty big gusts at times, water was low and having a great time until during a bit of a heavy patch of wind, found a couple of 20cm chop in a weed patch at pace and it all came undone. Boom destroyed, not my first but definately my best, 4 pieces! Everythng else ok including myself but the boom will never be the same.

Wow that's really odd, both sides of the boom at once?

Or did you sail it in on the other tack?

I guess it could be the increased compression load on the other side once your side gave way, but I've never seen that before.

 

Glad every thing else is OK though, must have been some stack.

You got a PB anyway, if an expensive one, it's still some consolation.

Nice looking conditions.

Nice PB mate but the I'm not sure if it was worth the boom. I've got a spare Blueline that you're welcome to loan mate. Not sure how much life is left in it but feel free to loan it.

Yeah a big crash, checked on Realspeed had a 36.74  ,36.193 ,26.554 ,43.801 ,2.435 ,0.513 so a quick stop. Hit the chop i bearly saw it, fin went, landed sideways, board stop and i didnt , ended up flying past sail and the sail hit water mast first. When i stood up i saw boom broken, tried to walk out of weed and relised something up as i couldn't get boom out of weed, it is seriously about a metre wide now, walked home. I was about 4 metres inside the weed and on a big gust a couple of chop have got in there somehow maybe a thin spot? Just one of those things hey, PB Yeah!Tongue out
