TERRY (44193km): Primbee, NSW, AU A lot of short runs in a gusty choppy, low tide lake. 0 - 20 - 0 - 20kt NE gusts, I am worn out. Tabou 95l Rocket NP 5.8 Evo6 yeah I know its the same again!
Matt R (17128km): Primbee, NSW, AU. Tabou 108L, SV 6.5m NCX, Tribal 33 weed. A fun typical nor-easter with some big gusts and a few holes, comfortable on the 6.5m.
Eckers (12204km): Late afternoon sail, joining Jetlag and Bushy who looked like they'd been at it a while. No Terry?!?!?! Fanatic Falcon 104, Gaastra Matrix 2008 RAF (7.5), Black Project Weed Speed 31. First time out with my new (second hand) North Platium Boom. So much lighter in the back end than my old Maui Sails boom and super stiff. Very pleased with that investment! Two speed wind with the holfuy windmeter sitting in the lull between the northerly and the noreaster. Good fun. Very Shallow. Picked up one awesome gust that just kept driving and driving into the flatter and flatter water. Looking through the 2 sec results, without this gust the rest of my 2 secs were only low to mid 33's. That one gust drove a single bearoff nearly 2 knots quicker. Same for the 5x10s. The 10 sec peak with the magic gust was more than three knots clear of the rest of my 10 secs. Just goes to show there's a lot of luck in this game.
Jetlag (10627km): Primbee, NSW, AU Put today down as a Research Day. Firstly went hunting for a low tide speed strip where the sand bars are forming near where Lake Illawarra narrows to go towards the entrance channel. Lots of possibility there, but for a NE, the channel I tried was too broad with a fair bit of chop because of it. There are other channels that line up for a bearaway in a W. Something to revisit in winter ? Packed up and drove to Primbee for a few hrs tinkering with the W49 to get it dialled a bit better. Had some sweet runs riding the fin in ankle deep water. Shame the wind wasn't stronger. Only a few out, considering the conditions. Loft SB 7.0, Naish SP95 then Isonic W49, BP Weed 25/50
bushfire (26346km): Primbee, NSW, AU NE up to 20 knots + A fun hour after work from Primbee to Gooseberry over the chop. I really like the new fin - provides just a bit more lift than the standard fin. Good to see Jetlag & Eckers motoring in the flats. SV Fox 105, R8 7m, Drake DW 38 |
