Peter I'd love to congratulate you on your PB 2 sec peak of 57 knots but somehow I think the reality is a somewhat lower speed!!

Wow fastest windsurfer in the USA at 57.91 knots. Hope you do a clinic soon so we can learn how to go that fast! The rest of us are mere amateures compared with that...except Boris of course!Laughing

Well, it was 57, but km/h instead of knots. I probably should have eaten something before posting Embarassed. I use km/h in my personal database. Not my best day .. forgot the wet suit at home and had to drive back to pick it up, air temps were only around 15 C.

There was that one really strong gust ... but I got backwinded straight into the water by it, even though I was moving at my normal upwind pace (40% of 50 knots). That never happend to me on a 3-cam sail before, so it was definitely interesting.

PJ, thanks for the encouragement. My dreams are a bit smaller .. 35 would be nice!

evets, my lovely wife was there, too. She could definitely back up that I was not going fast! But perhaps there is something in the Corpus Christi water again. When we got home after dinner, Nina first started feeling dizzy, then giggled for 5 minutes (although at time it almost looked like crying), and then passed out on the couch. They did have a big water contamination problem here shortly before we arrived.

Roo, I'll have to hand the title of fastest windsurfer in the US back to Boris. It would have been fun if the speed had been real, though - since Boro will be at least a few knots faster than I am in any condition, he could have broken the 60 knot barrier!

Hi Peter, sorry to see your glory was brief🙂 It would have been a great story. I think most of us have accidentally posted with a decimal point in the wrong place or similar. Personally I check to see if there is a PB when I post as that is generally a good indicator. Hope you do get some stronger wind when on the right kit and do get to do a huge speed one day.

Peter, any more experience with the "Taty stance"?

evets, we were in such a hurry to go out for some food that I did not even notice the "PB" mistake, otherwise I would have fixed it right away. I knew from the watch and GPSLogit that I had not set any PBs today.

Barton, I'm definitely still playing around with the Taty stance. I hear higher numbers every time I try to go for it. Part of the runs were in a bit of chop today, so I got a few butt slaps. I tried to also sink lower during speed runs, which probably helped - but it was so gusty today that it's hard to say. I hope we get a day with steadier wind soon for a more definitive comparison. It definitely feels good. I'm not sure how much of the gain is from being able to straighten the front leg, and how much is from closing the gap, but I'll take whatever I can get Smile.

Peter, when you say "...something in the Corpu Christi water" , can i assume you mean beer ? ( it used to have the same effect on me when I was a teenager.   (if this font doesnt look quite right, you have forgotten your glasses again too ;-)

I was looking for a hidden message Fangy. When I record it as an acoustic track and play it backwards it takes on a whole new meaningSurprised. Is it possible I am over thinking this?

Not at all Evets, but I am looking forward to your posts on each full moon... it really is a problem when idle minds are not sailing isn't it? :-)

Fangman, very funny indeed Laughing. Unfortunately, the water situation here is not funny. In the last 18 month, Corpus Christi had four warnings - three times E. coli contamination or low chlorine that could be fixed by boiling, and last December "a chemical asphalt emulsifier" got into the water supply. Apparently, they warned the public a week after they had been warned by the company responsible. Yesterday and today, the water tasted really funny. We are using a water filter, but it won't help against some chemicals. We'll have to run and get some big bottles of water later. Nina drinks a lot more water than I do, so any problems would affect here more. She's better today, though, and I hope it was just a virus. These freestylers just fall way too much!
