Ezzy Cheetah 6.5, JP Slalom 66W + Fangy Fin Decrep Mod

Wouldn't even call it grovelling, slightly above drifting speed really. The distance king was on a mission today so a few of us just got out on the water to make sure all his efforts weren't in vain. It's surprisingly hard to gybe a board when going that slow.

Fangy you'll be happy to know that I couldn't make the fin spin out, even at the crazy speeds I was reaching Cool ..................

........ Embarassed

Edit - add the track so it can be admired by all

Well Morts you reckon you had a float!!!!

novara slog

Those wiggly red lines are me trying to uphaul, boy am I rusty at that!!!!!!

Was fun trying the zero wind pumping technique of standing in front of the mast and waveing it from side to side.

Didn't have it quite right though at one stage I was going backwards!

But then wind picked up to about 2kts and Firie went flying past using a conventional pumping method on his sup. So I swapped round to the side and followed him. went about 150m then wind died, that's were I discovered my lack of uphaul skill. Slow drift downwind until I got my act together and a bit of wind came back. Had a go at tacking back to base but gave up half way there, too much like hard work and it was getting late.

65cm board, 5.3 Avalon wave sail and 29cm 45d weedy.

Used the wave sail because I knew there wasn't enough wind pressure to easily rotate a camned sail.

I think Mighty Mike said it all, at times I was going forward and at times I was going backwards and with no idea why, oh and at times going sideways Laughing

Funny enough I had some fun, caught up with the living ledgend and sailed when only desperate lunatics would, anyone watching would think we've escaped from the dementia ward LaughingYellWink

Lake George, SA, AU

SSE 14-26+ knots-Patrik 100-Koncept 6.2m-Select Elite S11 35cm blown out then onto suicide combo old F2 Missle-Loft Blade 5.6m-MxR weedy 26cm

Had very high hopes of doing a big distance day but again too freaking windy in the end which ended my hopes of a high 300 to 400+ day:-(

Perfect day, misty at start from 7am instantly on the plane and overcast for most of the day and pretty steady wind and building in the afternoon. Gybing on the both sides was easy as water flattens but middle section pretty choppy. As wind built went into the eastern section of the lake.

I can see the weed growing all around the lake and a weed fin was required later in the day if you want speed to hug the spit and north of the little islands (super flat, super weedy and shallow). Water levels have dropped since I was last there 1 month ago but still plenty left. Next few years looking even more promising....

Jimbob came for a sail for mid afternoon and showed how scary close to the spit one can go next to the spit with a 24 cm weedy. Gybing out of the speed runs was awesome super fast. Cough lets say a slow speed run but for me fast!

Thanks to all the lads who backed up this distance session:-)

First picture 192 km's

118 km session - Missle suicide action.... (pretty flogged thus higher risk action all around!)

Hmmm, this time it looks like I had more fun doing a twelve hour day at work than you all did sailing in WA. Did our SA team mate get out on the water?

Steve we believe he did, possibly still going for all we know.

Firie I think "flogged" is a slight exaggeration, besides I made all sorts of crazy weight saving measures to get that result ie no helmet ummm no clothes Surprised

Windxtacy it was indeed just your regular everyday madness Wink

The Mortician kills em. Obviously that fin was the only diff :-) gotta love a distance jellybean for less than 8kms. That makes Elmo's 25 km effort seem like hard work! Forgentia ward fellas, I am well impressed with your efforts, I don't reckon a leaf stirred here for more than a moment. Thanks to all for posting tracks - the fail is pretty funny sometimes 😄😄

Glad Cap'n Calm, has taken to wearing his lunch box on his head. With distances like that he might have been caught a long way from base and really hungry. Excellent planning on a distance day.

That is a true team effort. Quite a few PWs in that lot I suspect.

It would be funny if your SA team member did not get to sail for some reason...

Lunch box was empty but he had his dancing shoes on, he had some nice moves going on too. Left foot back, right foot left, left foot right, arms to the left arse to the right, shake it all about, Elvis would be jealous Laughing

First up thanks for the floaty sessions and backup guys, that is really awesome but super funny. Can't stop laughingCool

I'm just bummed out couldn't do more km's. Also can't figure out why my fingers have blistered up as last 300km session no problems a month ago.

Anyway, your day in the wind will comeCool

I know you are a bit bummed with the distance PJ, but I still think it's freakin epic. I am still in the zone where anything in triple figures is a monster day. And glad you got some nice little speed runs too. Great session all around with no carnage😄👍

Fangy, I knew the harness would just be extra ballast I didn't need, it's no help at all in holding the sail up.

Anita, I don't plan on breaking thos PWs any time soom, I'm content to let them stay for eternity.

Hope the blisters heal quick, I think they are caused by hanging on for dear life.

Fantastic team effort guys. Very impressive sailing in tricky conditions . Oh and you did ok too PJ. I love the idea of Morts geting a distance  jellybean for 7kms. Albany has alternated between Sunday looking good and rubbish with each successive forecast. We shall see.
