That was fun! It looked like there was hardly any wind but there was enough for me to be planing all of the time (except for just after the rig flip). Looking at seabreeze I was out during the best of it, for once. 12 - 16 kn. I was working on gybes again today and I feel my entries have improved heaps and I am sheeting in more and flipping the rig earlier which is making my turns more of a U and less of a D, and keeping my weight more on the front foot. I still need to get the confidence to throw that rig forward after the rig flip to stay off the wind. Disappointing not to get a better alpha, but I guess the entry speeds were pretty low (19 - 20 kn).
Pleasing to keep going for an hour today, although fatigue did cause me to fluff a few gybes and tacks after the 45 minute mark. Fitness is improving. I am not feeling as weary as I have after my last few sessions. The leg has been pretty good but a few twinges told me I'd better not do any more.
Two things about these ongoing light wind conditions.
1. easy decision which gear to use
2. Gear tuning gets better and better at each outing because you are constantly using the same gear. It is nice to be planing past others who are grovelling - it helps to be 20 kg lighter than most, of course.
