Lyds (10267km): Valentine, NSW, AU Formula 167, 9.2 R7, 62 Curtis - nice sail on my own and shoulder held together again with tape. This new combo of smaller sail and fin is really nice and its the first time in the 24 knot range for me. Unfortunately my board repair seems to be sucking in water again as the longer I sailed the lower in the water my board sat. Might just have to set fire to it Can't complain was a really nice session. | ||||||||||||||||||
sboardcrazy (24381km): 5-12kts SSW Buff Pt Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU 115 Xcross - 7.8m OD - 38 makani weedie then 19 delta then Canton 5-10kts short patch of 15-20kts SSW 115 Xcross - 7.8m OD - 38 makani weedie then RS2 - 7m OD - 33 makani weedie Well I tried.. It was the best forecast for the week. The aim for the day was to try and find some wind to plane in.. Tried Buff. It looked about 10-15kts but I stuffed around and by the time I got in it had died to under 12kts. Tried the 38 normal weedie but it picked up weed and was hitting the bottom in the flats so came in a got a delta. At least the water was flat. Got bored so decided to try and learn how to tack.. Not a good idea with the heavy 7.8m cammed sail that wasn't rotating properly. Need to do some homework and dry land practise and then have a go with a lighter sail. I haven't tacked for over 30 years.. It seemed to come in a little when I'd packed up and I decided to make a day of it so I wouldn't be tempted to make the long drive if it blew Friday. Canton- Mano from Sydney went out and got going occasionally so rigged the big gear again. Got going occasionally. After 1.30 it kicked in to 15-20kts and I was pretty stuffed on the big gear so raced in and rigged the smaller..Of course I missed the best of it and it died as soon as I had it ready. ( Must be Autumn) grr I need to learn how to uphaul the 90ltre and 7m sail so I had a few attempts. Ok in shallows where the rig touched the bottom but not so good out further. Will be easier with the non cammed NCX 7m. I'll have to get some help and try to fix the non rotating issue. I missed as a lot of opportunites to plane as the sail wasn't fully popped and had no power. It seems to be the boom height cam all the time. Wayne put in as I was leaving. Well it was nice to get out on the water..
