The Train, Southport, QLD, AU  F2 Vento, Ezzy Lion 6.5m2, Choco 36

Most unsatisfactory.  Promising a "post Cyclone Debbie sitting off the Qld/NSW coast" 25-30 knots yesterday, today and for the next 2 days.....diddly squat in the Broadwater! Arriving at the Train at the right time for the tide to uncover the sandbank  and for it to be going with the wind for a change, I was instantly impressed by how few other sailors were there. Like zero. Hmm. Rigged up regardless and drifted out into the favourable tide which started to sweep me towards New Guinea. A couple of gusts nearly caught me napping but I had a couple of fun runs  before it died altogether. Rather than be a play time rag doll for the bull sharks I drifted home rather north of my launch area. Manana.

Late afternoon yachting with Shane. Looked like there may be enough to get going but for the most part there wasn't. Still it was warm, not often you get to sail in a shorty wetsuit down here in April. Relaxing way to finish the weekend Smile

Wazzasoggy - that is disappointing. I was hoping for the epic speed run, brought undone by Debbie's debris type of tale.Frown

Indeedy Firie. Your calculations are correct I was doing 8 knots and the tide 20. When the tide's racing like that and you are trying to get going upwind there's not much pressuire on the fin and the bastard board wants to round up. Fortunstely, after 4 weeks of no sailing, I was in prime physical condition so after just a little bit of effort I collapsed, wheezing like a ruptured accordion.

Sorry to see you were skunked Morts. Not much wind but still expect to be doing 450 knots shortly.

Glad to see the bull sharks did not get you Wazza. I think there would be complaints if they did!
