Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU. 7.0 Naish, CA 95 20 Delta. Fun but nothing scary to push any real speed. It was a day for the light weights, lucky to get to 20knots of wind. Heaps of sailers at Buff but mostly just chatting in the car park due to no wind. Practiced heaps of tacks on the smaller board.

What a strange day !   Expected more wind than yesterday but l threw into the car my bigger isonic 97 as well to be sure. How lucky. I just wish l had thrown in my 7.8 as well. Anyway, l had fun planning more than most guys today. Amazingly Steve Walsh and Ricki Riccardo managed with their 7m and 80L boards. Mind you they did stand in the water for an aweful long time between meals! The wind really eased off a lot but came back late arvo and turned more to the south.  Had enough by then and came home!

Used 7m (7L board and 25cm weedie but tried the 19Delta as well. That was a bit small for the 67cm wide isonic

Mistral 95 speed, Maui TRX 6.3. A long day and a lot of standing around, both on the shore and in the middle of the lake. As often seems to be the case I was on the wrong gear. Had to sail late into the day to squeeze enough speed to be able to post.

Thanks Hugh for the ride on the big gear, but the best I could manage was 29 kts, although it did deliver my best alpha

15-20kts SW - SSW , buggerall then 15-24kts SSW Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU

6.6m Koncept  79ltre falcon - 19 delta

 then RS2 - BP 25 weedspeed 50 ( on loan from Lyds) - 6.6m

then falcon with 6.6m & BP

Supposed to be brown pants weather . I went out early and could have been on the 7m early but played it safe and the 6.6m is turning out to be a good compromise size. Good fun early although not enough wind to really bearaway 30.88 best in a gust.

Disappointed with the alpha as for once I treid for alphas and I was happy with my gybing..it was a bit patchy wind wise on the entry and exits but need to work on my speeds on a reach. Lots of planing gybes and started to try and get the rig further from my body and keep the front arm straight ( when I remember). The 6.6m is a good size for that as it's not too heavy.

Came in after 1.3/4hrs.. Some of the guys on shore waiting for the strong stuff finally decided to cut their losse and get out there in case it didn't happen.

Hung around and almost went home but about 2pm it seemed to pickup a bit. Decided to take the bigger board out and try Lyds fin. Just starting to enjoy myself when bang! The boom arm came off in my hands..Yell Luckily I was above the point so drifted in..I decided to time how long it took as it seemed to take forever last time 25mins..yawn..

Glad it happened there and not off Coal Pt! Surprised

Ready to give it away as it was after 3 by now but the wind seemed to come in and Mick kindly lent his spare boom.

FUN! Tongue outTongue out Incredible what a difference a fin makes! Surprised  I usually don't put much pressure on the deltas and as such can't really transfer the sails power to the board. Also across the wind I don't really get very wound up before I bear off for the same reason.

With the BP it was rock solid and the board felt turbo charged! Such great fun. I reckon I lifted my working and reaching speed by a couple of knots..Tongue out I even rode the fin upwind for a while..I could really get the speed up before the bearaway .Wish I had got a mega gust as Im sure I would have PBd.

The little board was rocketting everywhere..Tongue outTongue out I wasn't game to try a gybe in the shallows as I was touching with the 19cm..

Wow . Wow wow I want one! Pity I have to buy another boom..Frown

I'm really going to have to learn more about fins..It would be great to have the board lift above the chop on LM but I suppose weedies won't do that? At the moment I'm clattering through it..Undecided

Top speeds Steve ! Thanks Steve. Mick was good enough to loan me his spare and I had a ball of a sail using Lyds fin..Thanks Lyds !

I threw the boom in the bin but it's been aalvaged to be repaired so the youngens can use it..Probably ok for their light weight but I wouldn't trust it.😊
