iS107, 7.8 RBlade, 36 Tribal Sl - Lammermoor Beach, QLD, AU ESE 14-21kn

Sailed in and out of the racing yacht fleet which made it extra bumpy with the wake.  Wind up and down but enjoyable sail none the less.  Fitness (or lack thereof) won out in end.

Port Douglas, QLD, AU Got 2hrs on the water with Billy this arvo..17 to 20kts and choppy sea..good fun session on 97lt Isonic  38 cm fin  and burnt out 7.3m North rig cranked down hard.. New North mast doesn't twist of as well as my old one so ran extra down haul and rig felt sweet all arvo..Sea weed wasn't as bad as the other day and managed to dodge most of it..Billy had a weed fin so he didn't have a problem with it at all..Down winders were not on the cards today ..

Had the tide from hell running all arvo so had to keep the 'peddle to the metal 'and stay hard on the wind the whole time..Came in for a quick pit stop at 5 o'clock and was keen to go and clock up another 20kms but wind started to drop off so lost interest, Had a nice chat with Billy instead...Had another penal blow out but can do a quick fix with more sail tape.harness lines are burnt out and and going in the wheelie bin only got them in Noumea end of last season..The good news is Deck repairs on Isonic stood up well took some big hits out wide just to see if i could break it..But all good..Mayde there is hope for this board after all..Cheers ED...

Port Douglas, QLD, AU

A sensational day in Port Douglas..more to follow - Grubs up.

As I started to outline last evening, it was a sensational arvo up on the Port Douglas Peninsula. Cairns was being hit by rain scud after scud which crueled any chance of sailing locally so it was decided to see what me old mate Ed has been enjoying in the last week.

Couldnt believe the amount of weed bergs in the water. For the first 150m off the beach was patches of coral with huge clumps of weed attached. Wind was an up and down affair, and I studidly rigged for the UP. Like Snags, upstairs, lack of fitness was very, very telling in the lumpy conditions with a huge running tide and many breaks on my favourite sand bar were had!!! Just couldnt get comfortable. This new board is worlds apart from my old Missy Screamer and the fact that its only other real sail was in the Burrum SMOOTH (Spoilt), I am going to take some time to get to know her.

Very much under finned when the breeze dropped back. Was great when I had 20 knots behind me, she powered up, but as soon as the breeze dropped off, one slight bit of pressure on the WS 31, she went side ways. It was like that all afternoon. My other issue is more self consiliartory...I havnt got past the fact that I have a $3k board under my feet and am being to tender with her!!!

Overall though, a very pleaseant afternoon with the Port Douglas Destroyer (who is keeping local sales of sail repair tape alive) and the water temp out in the ocean is magnificent.

Used Custom CA 71/108lt,  Tribal WS31, 7.5 T4.

Would have backed you up snags, but no water after 10am today in Mackay. The rain stpped and wind settled in straight after that. Will have a go tomorrow.
