No speed records today. Wind just wasn't there but still had a very enjoyable sail on the big gear. Broke a harness line at the very end of yesterday's session, then bugger me, the opposite side broke within 10 minutes of going out today. Put on my last spare and kept sailing. CA SL70, Ezzy Lion 7.3, Venom 42.

Good afternoon sail with James Drinnan. As usual the wind on the dam waas lighter and gustyer than I expected. Stilll hade a few good runs but nothing spectacular. Should have gone to Port Douglas.

Very light, couldn't get planing for first 2 runs, released the adjustable outhaul and bagged out the sail and then managed to get going. Might see if I can get a late sail tomorrow at Holloways.

Very frustrating arvo at Port, when i arrived a 25+ SSW was blowing and rain was bucketing down. I waited for the rain to ease then quickly rigged my 6.2 and 90 Isonic and headed out. Only managed a few runs until the wind died and I had to grovel in.
Waited around for a couple of hrs until the wind came back, but this time only just 15knts and very gusty, it lasted 20 mins then died again.
As i had just finished derigging the wind came back in and Andrew looked like he was finally getting some good runs.
Used Isonic 90, Overdrive 6.2 and SW27

Great to see Kel and Ben up here in Port Douglas. Very sad to say the Weather Gods were not kind to them. Kel had got about 20 minutes on his isonic and 6m sail before the wind died. Ben rigged up his Exocet and 6.5 metre Severne. I rigged up my 7.2 Fusion and the Atomiq 120. The tide was low. After about 30 minutes the wind started to pick up a bit.. Kel told me to go out and see what the wind was like. We had about 30 minutes of floating around - the boys called it quits. Kel was gone and Ben was about to leave when the wind kicked in nice and solid =- 21-22 knots SSE. I had an absolute ball, considering that yesterday the wind was too strong for me. This was just inside my comfort zone. Had to hang down nice and low to keep control. Lots of nice blasting runs. A bit disappointed with my speed. Could be a fault with my GPS. Happy to be out there. Sailed for a good hour and a half. About 5 kites out there and, just as I finished up, one of them came in and said they saw a 2 metre crocodile about 300 metres offshore - must have a taste for Kitesurfers. Very strange to find a crocodile out there in this weather and in the middle of May - not sure what is going on.... Ed says there is always a crocodile out there sobering thought. Very happy with the amount of sailing days we are having - has the makings of a very good season.

Made the trip North to PD for an afternoon sail with Kel & Andrew after speaking with Andrew on the phone around midday. Got the word that it was blowing a gail! Arrived just after 2pm to find barely a breath in the air... Wind picked up a little being such a tease. Floundered around for a bit, the most action was catching a few little waves back to shore. Packed up soon after Kel decided to pick up stumps. As soon as the gear was back in the car, the wind picked right up out of the blue. I drove home thinking to myself "you wouldn't bloody read about it & why didn't I just wait just that little bit longer"!
Andrew seemed to be having a great time blasting about at the end of the day - great to see at least one of us getting amongst it!!
