Patchy 5-15kts + WSW Valentine, NSW, AU

 115Xcross - 7.8m OD - 38 makani weedie

Quick 3/4hr sail before appointment. No real bearaways..

Pretty patchy . In the gusts the board felt like an aircraft carrier in the chop..Frown..it had settled down a little and got more consistent when I had to leave..would have enjoyed it more then..

Went ok until I muffed a gybe and then wore myself out trying to uphaul the big board in the chop..I feel old..UndecidedWink

Still nice to sail in some sun and see some blue sky. Whimped out of putting my thick wet wettie back on but the aldi cheapie with a rashie under did the job..Cool

Jeff and Mike rigging as I left..looks like it came in later..Undecided Makes me realise how lucky i am to generally have the time to wait until it gets good..Smile

Buggered...Embarassed

Falcon 113 RSS 7.8 Venom 38

Farewell to my trusty X6 mast which exploded like a cannon today in about 8kts of breeze. It had served me well through my (long) "beginner phase" and had endured 101 x catapults, 3 x boom breakages and 4 x board nose rearrangements in the last 18 months. Rest in piece(s) brother. Fortunately, it happened 100m from shore so Micks Baywatch-style rescue attempt was not required but much appreciated! Almost gave up as the wind wasn't happening but I jammed my KA mast in the RSS (which rigged almost identically?) the breeze came up and we had an awesome hour of mostly 12-15 kt planing action. Very happy to improve my hour in the chop. Gybed really well today, not reflected by my alpha number though and my 2 sec deviated from the GW-60 for the first time, trimming almost 1 knot off. I shouldn't complain though as it was one of better sessions I've had recently. With Mick and Sue, earlier.

Thanks, Sue. No Larko, but I'm sure I will get around to exploding that mast at some stage. You will have to sell me some more (heavily discounted) NP gear again soon! ....No Lyds, those catapult days are behind me now. LaughingBut you would think that it would likely break during something like that. But, like James's mast recently, it went in the most benign circumstances. Never been so close to a mast when it has broken before. Kaboom! That reminds me, I must hose out my wetsuit.
