Port Douglas, QLD, AU..Due to the fact that we got'' ripped off'' on the weekend and never got to play out on the sand cay with the rest of the kids..Me and Andrew thought we might jag a session this arvo.Went down the beach at happy hr and it looked like we might get a good fun blast on big gear..But got  totaly' ripped off again' for the first hr..Was just about to go home with the 'sads',. But the wind gods decided to show a little mercy,And we got a nice blast for an hr till sundown..Water was flatter than usually which made for a easy blast in 13 to 15kts on fully pumped 7.8m Gastra rig on 117 iso with big fin..Andrew got some tow in the second half and came in a bit happy.....The plan was to put some better numbers on the score board than what the weekend warriors did out on the cay..But i don't think that is gunna happedd..Guess i should be greatfull for what we got...Cheers ED

Port Douglas, QLD, AU

A rather mediocre afternoon's work, nothing to compare with the Cairns crew trip.  Ed and I snuck down to the beach about 2pm and hit the water, the low tide meant a flat run.  We both rigged 7.8m sails and Ed was on his 117 Isonic and I chose the Atomiq 120 [in hindsight I should have gone the isonic 133].  The first hour was extremely frustrating and we were about to pull the plug - we stood in the water with our rigs and saw the approach of a southerly front.  As it got closer Ed decided to scout out for a look.  The wind kicked up some more and we were off.  Enjoying my S-Type with the three battens - lots of control and power.  We ended up having a good hour or so of this wind and ended up disappointed and philosophical.  The wind has been very fussy for the last fortnight with lots of SSE - which doesn't help.  The rest of the week doesn't look good until Saturday - hopefully we will get that SE Trade Wind happening.  We are looking carefully at a window of opportunity to get out the Michaelmas Cay - really enjoyed the pics and so glad you got your money's worth out of the boat rental.

You know what Edward, you sailed whilst I work..I'd say that makes you and Andrew winners today.
