I'm finding 12-15kn most ideal at the moment. Used the 7.5 first but with the gusts coming through over 20kn it made it waayy overpowered.
Tried the 6.0 and even that became a handful in the end.
Out of interest i put a 38 fin on with the 6.0 and it wouldnt even get on the plane , but with the foil it planes effortlessly. Quite amazing.
Still feeling a bit retarded but learn something every time.

Not very often I steal a bean off those two...
Inspired by the coincidence of wind and sunshine despite the cold, I set off for the river after lunch. The sun disappeared as I got close to the river. There was still a good 15 knots of wind in NW direction, so I quickly rigged up. Putting on all the layers of cold proofing took a lot longer, and just as I was dressed and ready the rain started. I know how the wind can shift WSW after a rain squall, or stop completely, so rather than get stuck down at Majestic point facing a long upwind slog I decided to wait out the rain. Ricey showed up just after the rain started. We both waited out the rain. Unfortunately after the rain there was zero wind. If I had not already rigged and dressed I may have gone home but eventually a gust came along and as I was ready, I got the best of it (hence a better 2 sec than Boz, who still had to rig at that point). The wind quickly dropped off and most of the rest of the session was a slog. The gusts were too narrow to get planing in, and my gear too small for the wind that was available. Ricey was zooming around on bigger gear running loops around Boz and myself, but his GPS watch wouldn't start up so you will just have to take my word for it. I managed quite a few gybes and tacks and I am slowly remembering some of the things that make gybes better. Not wanting to fall in the cold water does not help.
Anyway, thanks Ricey and Boz for the company.
