Stretch (30716km): Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU. Falcon113/FW7.0/TWS33. Light variable wind.
SluGger (13722km): Leschenault, WA, AU patrik 115, tr8 6.6m fangy 24 sailed with Ratz and John , Stretch protected our borders keeping an eye on the one more knot boys further south
Decrepit (54500km): bit of a light NW wind cruise at Boombas running from the carpark to the outside yellow buoys. Found some flatish water behind the buoys. As usual Roger was already there with multiple sails rigged. Wind was light and swinging WNW to NW, so rigged the 6.6, 53cm board with 21cm filleted deltoid. Aus, Hardie and Johnski arrived. Roger and I went out as guinea pigs but didn't stay but didn't take long to determine that the wind was too light. Hardie and Aus did the sacrifice and left, which worked soon after, and Roger John and myself actually got planing. I decided that as we weren't venturing deep into boombas the 29cm@ 45deg would give me more lift. Shortly after Roger pulled the pin, and John and I started to have some fun. Strop arrived and the wind continued to build. I found myself a bit overpowered by the yellow buoys. The carpark seemed a long way downwind and there where black clouds on the horizon. So tail between legs I headed back. John had changed down, and Elmo arrived. couldn't convince myself to change down or reef in the sail, so packed up before the rain hit and left the others to it.
Figured out how to get gpsvisualizer GE to measure distance, this says 3.34Km
Jonski (6717km): Point Grey, WA, AU, Boombas delivers again!! Waited around for a fair while with Roger and Mike trying to improve my rigging of the 6.3 (still have cam rotation issues) before heading out on the Carve 131 with an 8.5 sailworks retro (which really is retro now) Wind picked up so headed out on the warp 6.3 and 86 isonic. very underdone and spent a bit of time sitting waiting and praying until finnally the wind arrived along with Elmo and Stroppo. Last thing i said before blasting off on a 34 knot nauti was im going to play it safe and stay up wind. Got greedy and started bearing off on a few gusts until the bolt that holds the sail into the rubber joint sheared off cue a quick swim to retrive the board a total of 8kms sailed with the rig tied to the deck and a short walk of shame.
Elmo (31413km): Tabou Rocket wide 107L, NP RSR E7 7.0m, JP weed 31cm Well thsat was my first real sail since 26th March (foiling doesn't count as sailing) and didn't it feel like it to Hit the water just shy of 4pm John had just come back for a breather, Stroppo did as Stroppo does and disappeared into the distance, I took of with John's words ringing in my ears that I should "stay upwind" (Thank you John) the wind wasn't to bad the chop going accross the first bay wasn't to bad either, looked back and saw that John had had enough of a breather and was chasing me down, next thing I know he's gone flying by, yep it's gunna be a fun session. Wind had a few holes to start but soon filled in, got a few runs but forgot how long a Naughty was, the rain came with it the wind, from a new and exciting direction (buggeration) one more run and the sail was beating the crap outa me so decided to try and get back, bloody direction change has made things intereting the extra wind in the sail isn't helping easier. Apart from the sailing upwind fun a total whiteout on the other shore made fining the parking spot a bit of fun. Eventually got back to base after a fun little session. I seriously need to work on my sailing fitness, be nice to get some more wind on the weekends rather than all before 4 oclock on a week day. Good times |
