Channel course, even choppier...got bounced out of the harness with a 39.285 knot peak speed, managed to save it and avoid the splat!

You love this! Flat water would provide no adrenaline rush at all for you Laughing. Nice numbers, BTW.

The latest sat image for 2017 from Google Earth. You can see the sandbar is almost non existant and the course runs out in the Columbia river channel.

July 18, 2017 image - will need a couple of good Winter/Spring floods washing down from Mt. Hood before the sandbar is an effective speed area again. Looks like the kiter's launch area has been significantly reduced in size as well...

Record low water levels today but impossible to get in close to the sandbar. Here's the Gorge.net camera, you can see a lot more sand and the way the hood river has moved to the west.  http://www.gorge.net/cameras/sandbar/sandbarimage.jpg?dummy=371662

This is a comparison with last year when I peaked at 41 knots, red tracks from 2016, July 26. You can see where all the sand has been washed away.

Looks a lot more difficult now since the run-in is in much bigger chop/swells...

Course is a couple of knots slower than last year because there is no flat water, just chop!
